Manufacturing · Folding Carton Manufacturer Management Software

One system for carton specifications, artwork proofs, board lots, dies and inspection records.

Carton specifications, artwork versions and proofs, paperboard lots, press and finishing queues, cutting dies, folder-gluer runs, inspection records and invoices are kept together. Each job carries its style, board, colours and approved artwork, and each run carries the board lot and die used. Prepress staff, planners, machine crews, inspectors and dispatch read one job record, from the brand’s first artwork file to the cased delivery.

  • Carton styles, board types and finishes typed in the way each brand orders them
  • Customer list, die register and board stock copied in at the start
  • Later queue and inspection edits done by our team when asked

Plants that print and cut cartons for packers run orders, artwork versions, paperboard lots, finishing queues and dies in Folding Carton Manufacturer Management Software, which GullySystem configures to the shop floor. Each run links its board lot, artwork sign-off and cutting die to the inspection records taken on it. Case counts and labels follow the packer’s requirements into the delivery.

Where it breaks today

What goes wrong before the software.

Artwork versions collide

Several versions of one design sit in the prepress folder. The press may print the wrong text, and the sign-off cannot be found afterwards.

Board lots stay at the store

Grammage and caliper are chosen with care, but the mill lot is not recorded against the sheets. A cracked crease cannot be traced.

Dies go missing

Cutting and creasing dies are stored by customer and moved for repair. The record of where each one went lives in someone’s memory.

Print approvals are repeated

Colour match and varnish choice are agreed again on every run. The last approved sheet is in a drawer.

Glue and registration faults are found late

A weak glue line or a shifted window patch is caught on the packer’s filling line, long after the folder-gluer shift has ended.

Case counts differ by packer

Cartons per case, cases per pallet and label layout are set by the packer’s line. A wrong count means a rework at the dock.

How it runs

How the work flows through it, step by step.

  1. 1

    Artwork and quote

A brand sends artwork, board and style. The estimator prices sheet size, ups, colours, coating and tooling.

  2. 2

    Proof and approval

Prepress builds the imposition, sends a proof and files the sign-off against the version.

  3. 3

    Board and die check

Paperboard lots are checked by grammage and caliper, and the die is confirmed to be on the shelf.

  4. 4

    Printing and finishing

The sheet is printed, coated, foiled or embossed in the order set on the job.

  5. 5

    Cutting, folding and gluing

Dies cut and crease the sheets, waste is stripped, and the folder-gluer folds and glues each carton.

  6. 6

    Inspection and dispatch

Glue, print and window patch are checked, cartons are cased and counted, and the packing list goes with the load.

Modules

What is inside.

Every module can be switched on, left out or changed to match how your team already works.

Carton specification and artwork

Keep style, board type, ups, colours, coating, die number and the approved artwork version for every carton.

Estimating and quotations

Price cartons from sheet size, ups, ink, coating and tooling. Revisions are kept for the next reorder.

Proof and sign-off record

Record each proof, who approved it and which version reached the press.

Order intake and promised dates

Give each carton order a promised date once press hours and finishing hours both have room.

Paperboard lot stock

Board arrives with its mill lot, grammage and caliper recorded, and unallocated stock shows to planners.

Press, coating and finishing queue

Sequence the offset press, varnish or UV coating, foil stamping and embossing with drying time held between steps.

Die register and cutting records

Track cutting and creasing dies with impressions run, repairs and shelf position.

Folder-gluer runs

Record machine, speed, glue type and good cartons per run, and link them to the sheets that fed it.

Inspection and rejects

Glue line, registration, colour and window patch readings are logged against the run, and a failing lot is put on hold.

Cases, labels and dispatch

Print case labels per packer, attach the packing list and show the cartons dispatched against the order.

Invoices and brand accounts

Bill on thousands delivered, enter payments, and see which brand owes most and for how long.

Solutions inside

The business modules it is built from.

Each one is also available on its own, or inside a system built for you.

  • Quote & Proposal Management

Prices come from sheet size, ups per sheet, ink, coating and tooling, and a reorder shows the earlier quote beside the revised one.

  • Document Management

Each artwork version and proof is filed with its approval, so the press crew sees only the cleared version.

  • Goods Receipt (GRN)

Board is booked in with mill lot, grammage and caliper before it can be issued to a press run.

  • Production Planning

The offset press, coating, foil and emboss steps are sequenced with drying time held, and the board shows what waits.

  • Quality Control

Glue line, registration, colour and window patch checks are entered against the run, and a failing lot is held.

  • Fixed Asset Register

Each cutting and creasing die is listed with impressions run, repairs and shelf position, and flagged near its limit.

  • Batch and Serial Tracking

A folder-gluer run carries a number that points back to the board lot and the press sheets behind its cartons.

  • Barcodes and Labels

Case labels print in each packer’s layout with the batch number, matching the packing list for the pallet.

Services

How we would put it in.

Setup, data migration, integrations and anything built on top.

Who uses it

One system, each person sees their part.

For owners

See jobs by stage, proofs waiting, board cover, die condition and balances by brand.

For prepress staff

File artwork versions, send proofs and mark the version that is cleared for the press.

For press and finishing crews

Read the queue, the board lot and the die to fit, and record counts and stops.

For inspectors and quality staff

Enter glue, registration and colour checks, and decide whether a run is released.

For stores and dispatch

Receive board, issue it to jobs, case the finished cartons and put a label on the pallet before the truck arrives.

Reports

The numbers the owner asks for.

  • Jobs by stage with proof status
  • Board consumed against sheets and cartons made
  • Waste in make-ready and stripping per job
  • Inspection results per run
  • Dies by impressions since repair
  • Cartons dispatched by brand and case count
  • Open invoices per brand, longest unpaid at the top
Good fit

Who this is built for.

  • Plants that print and convert paperboard cartons for food and personal care
  • Makers of pharmaceutical cartons with leaflets and tight text control
  • Carton printers that finish with foil, emboss and window patching
  • Companies running offset presses, die cutters and folder-gluers
  • Printers whose brands ask for proof and inspection records
Honest answer

When it is not the right choice.

Made to fit

Adapted to your business before it goes live.

You are not handed a login and left to it. The product is set up around your records, your people and the tools you already use.

Carton styles and board types

Tuck-end, lock-bottom, sleeve and tray styles each get their own fields, with board grades from your mills.

Finishing steps

Coating, foil, emboss, window patching and gluing are set up as steps in the order your plant runs them.

Inspection checks and limits

The checks list and its pass limits are drawn up with your inspectors, following what each brand has asked for.

Units and currency

Sheet sizes in millimetres or inches and board weights in grams per square metre or pounds follow each customer, and currency and tax lines are checked at setup.

Common questions

Questions owners ask before a demo.

How does it stop an old artwork from being printed?

Only the version marked cleared is shown to the press crew. Earlier versions stay on file with their sign-offs, and a new version needs fresh approval.

Can board lots be traced to finished cartons?

Yes. A press run records the board lot, and the folder-gluer run points back to the sheets. A complaint about a cracked crease opens to the mill lot.

Does it manage foil stamping and embossing as steps?

Yes. Each finishing step is queued with its own tooling and drying time, so the planner sees what is waiting and what is ready.

Can it handle window patch cartons?

Yes. The patch film is a stock item linked to the carton, and the inspection check for patch position is recorded against the run.

How are repeat orders started?

The planner copies the earlier job. Style, die, colours and approved artwork carry over, and any change needs a new proof.

Can we see dies and their shot counts?

The register lists each die with impressions run and repair history. A die near the limit your toolroom sets is flagged on the planning board.

Can we start with open orders?

Yes. Jobs in progress, carton specs and board stock come across from your files. Planners compare them with the press room before anything live is entered.

What can we take out if we stop?

Job tickets, proofs and inspection results can be exported as files in the format the quotation names. Nothing is held back at exit.

How is pricing worked out?

Cost moves with users, presses and finishing machines set up. The figure comes once your own carton jobs have been shown on screen.
