Prospects and Proposals for Life Insurance Advisors

New business starts as a name, a meeting and a need. This module follows each prospect through discussion, proposal and insurer requirements until the policy is issued and joins the register.

What the pipeline holds

Prospect details

Name, phone number, source of the lead and family situation are noted. A referral from an existing client is linked back to that client, so the agency can see which clients bring in new families.

Needs discussed

Protection, savings, children’s education or retirement needs are recorded in the advisor’s own words, with existing cover noted.

Proposal

The plan, insurer, sum assured, premium mode and nominee proposed, with the date the proposal form was filed.

Pending requirements

Medical tests, income papers and KYC documents that the insurer has asked for, ticked off as each one is sent.

Outcome

Issued, declined by the insurer, postponed or dropped by the client, with the reason noted.

Who uses the pipeline

Advisors keep their own prospects and see only those. Team leaders read the proposals of the advisors under them, and the owner reads the whole pipeline. The servicing desk chases requirements so that advisors can stay with clients. Meetings come first.

Where it leads next

An issued proposal becomes a policy in the register without retyping, and the prospect becomes a client. The nominee, plan and premium mode carry across. Due dates and commission lines then follow from the policy.

What the agency sets up

  • Stages of the pipeline, in the words your advisors already use
  • Sources of lead that the agency wants to count
  • Requirement checklists for each insurer
  • Who may mark a proposal as issued or dropped

What this module does not do

It does not submit a proposal to an insurer or underwrite it. Medical and financial requirements are the insurer’s. It is not a tool for choosing a plan on the client’s behalf, and plan suitability stays a judgement for the advisor.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can a prospect become a client in one step?

Yes. Once the policy is issued, the prospect is converted and the plan details carry across without retyping.

Does it show proposals waiting on the insurer?

Yes. Pending requirements are listed per proposal, so the desk can see what the insurer has asked for and what is sent.

Can lead sources be counted?

Yes. Each prospect carries a source, such as a client referral or a camp, and a report counts proposals by source.

Is the pipeline private to each advisor?

Each advisor sees their own prospects. The owner and team leaders see more, as set for each role.
