What the Borrower Can See, Pay and Download

Half the calls a loan office takes are the same two questions. How much do I owe, and when is the next one due. A borrower login answers both without anybody reaching for the register.

The same records, through a narrower window

It is a web based loan management system, so the branch desk, a collector on the road and a borrower at home all read the same loan. She sees her own loans and nothing else: the schedule, what she has paid, what is still pending.

What sits behind the login

The schedule as issued

Instalment dates, amounts and the balance after each one. It is the schedule your ledger works from. Nothing is left to argue about across the counter.

Paying online

A UPI or payment gateway link can be offered against the instalment that is due. The receipt comes from that payment, which means tomorrow’s collection list is already correct.

Statements and receipts

A loan statement or a copy of any receipt, downloaded when it is wanted. Usually it is for an employer or a bank. The request always lands on a Saturday.

Top-ups and questions

A borrower who wants a renewal or a further loan can send that enquiry from here, and it arrives in the same enquiry list your officers work through.

An honest word about who will use it

  • Plenty of borrowers will keep paying the collector in cash, and that is fine
  • The portal earns its keep where borrowers already pay by UPI
  • What a borrower may see and do is set by permission, before go-live
  • Group members can be given the same view of their own dues
  • SMS or WhatsApp still carries the reminder, with the schedule behind it
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do borrowers have to install anything?

No. It opens in a phone or desktop browser with the borrower’s own login. For most small lenders that is the difference between a portal people use and one installed once and forgotten.

Can a member see the rest of her group’s dues?

Only her own, unless you decide otherwise. Group totals are the office’s view and the group leader’s conversation, and member logins are kept to that member’s loans.

Is a borrower portal worth it for our size?

It depends where your collection happens. If everything comes in through field collectors, the portal saves office calls rather than collection rounds. Where borrowers already send UPI payments and then ring to confirm, it pays for itself in a quarter of your day.
