Material Issue and Consumption for Waterproofing Sites

Coatings, membranes, cement and sealants go from the godown to several sites at once. The system records each issue against a job and compares it with the quantity the quotation allowed for that area.

What is tracked

Waterproofing material is costly and is carried from site to site in the back of a tempo. Without a record, a leftover pail is a mystery, and a shortage is found only when the crew is standing idle.

Godown stock

Coating pails, membrane rolls, primer, sealant cartridges, mesh and cement, each counted in its own unit with a reorder level.

Issue to a site

A supervisor draws material for a job. The issue note carries the job, the area, the quantity and the person who took it.

Return of unused material

Sealed pails and unopened rolls come back to the godown and are added to stock. Opened containers are recorded as partly used.

Use against the quotation

Each area was quoted for a quantity of material. The record shows how much was issued and how much was applied, area by area.

Purchases and suppliers

When stock falls below the reorder level, the office raises a purchase order to the dealer or manufacturer. Received material is added with its batch or lot number. A lot number matters when a product is later queried by its maker.

Seeing wastage

A site that used far more than its quotation allowed stands out in the report. The owner can then ask whether the area was measured wrongly, whether a coat went on too thick, or whether material left the site unrecorded.

What the client decides

  • Which items are tracked and in what unit
  • Reorder levels for each item
  • Who may issue material from the godown
  • How much variation from the quoted quantity is acceptable
  • Whether lot numbers are recorded at receipt
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can material be issued directly from a dealer to a site?

Yes. A purchase can be recorded as delivered to the site and booked against the job, without passing through the godown.

Does it handle partly used pails?

Yes. A pail is recorded as partly used, with the quantity thought to remain. The figure is the supervisor’s estimate.

Can a barcode or label printer be used?

It can be added for the godown. Whether the firm needs it, and which printer, is confirmed during scoping.

Does it work out the material needed for a new job?

It uses the coverage figures set up for each system. The firm decides these figures, and they should match the product’s own data sheet.
