Software Solutions for Pipe and Fitting Sellers
Pipes and fittings are bought by diameter, material, pressure class and length, usually many lines at once, and often by plumbers on account. Online sellers need a catalogue that stops mismatched parts, pack and length rules that follow the godown, and trade rates kept apart from retail prices.
Match every fitting to its pipe, and every trade rate to its buyer.
A pipe order is a list, not a single item. One job needs lengths of pipe, elbows, tees, solvent cement and clamps, and every line has to suit the others.
Counter dealers adding an online list
A dealer with a busy counter publishes the common lines online. The godown stays the single source of stock.
Trade suppliers with plumber accounts
Plumbers and small contractors order on account against agreed rates, often by repeating the last list.
Regional distributors
A distributor serves several dealers, each with its own limit, rate and delivery route.
The workflow for pipes & fittings.
- 1
Choosing by size and material
The buyer filters by nominal size, material and pressure class. Parts that cannot join the chosen pipe are hidden or flagged.
- 2
Assembling a job list
Lines are added in the order a plumber thinks of the job. Quantities are rounded to the pack or length the godown actually issues.
- 3
Applying the buyer’s rate
A homeowner, a plumber and a dealer see different prices for the same item. The order keeps the list that was used.
- 4
Cutting, picking and loading
Pipes sold by the metre are cut or issued whole, and fittings are picked by carton. The pick list says which, so the packer does not guess.
- 5
Delivery and returns
Goods go by route or courier. Unopened, unused lengths come back against the invoice, and cut pieces are handled as the seller’s policy sets out.
The challenges, and what they cost.
What is specific to this trade.
These are requirements we would confirm in discovery. They describe what the solution may need to handle. They are not features that already exist.
- Nominal size, material and connection type held as fields on each item
- A fit table that says which parts join which pipes
- Pack multiples and length rules applied at the basket
- Separate retail, trade and dealer prices, with credit limits on trade accounts
What we would build for pipes & fittings.
Chosen from the commerce capabilities this business needs, not a list of everything.
Who works in the system, and what each can do.
What it would connect to.
An integration is confirmed only after its API, access and scope are checked. A connection that updates on a schedule is described as scheduled, not real-time.
- The dealer-order product, which holds trade logins, price lists and credit limits
- Online payment for retail buyers, and account statements for plumbers who pay monthly
- Transport for long lengths of pipe, booked after the carrier shows what its interface covers
How the work runs, and what we need from you.
What you provide
- Your item list with sizes, materials and pressure classes
- The fit rules your counter staff already apply
- Trade and dealer rate lists, and the credit terms behind them
Build the fit table
We write down which parts join which pipes before any page is designed, because the basket depends on it.
Test with real lists
Past plumber orders are replayed through the new basket to see where a quantity or a part would be refused.
What you receive.
- Searchable size and material catalogue
- Fit and pack rules in the basket
- Trade price lists and dealer logins
- Repeat-list ordering
How progress is judged.
Measures are agreed against your own baseline. We do not promise a result in advance.
- Orders corrected by phone after placement
- Returns caused by a wrong size, against your own baseline
Selling at home and abroad.
A seller shipping abroad should confirm thread and size conventions for each market, since the same nominal size can mean different things. Catalogue fields can hold both. Export rules are confirmed with a carrier.

Questions about pipes & fittings e-commerce.
Can the site stop a customer ordering a fitting that does not suit the pipe?
Yes, where the fit table covers it. The table comes from your own knowledge of the range, and gaps in it are listed during set-up.
Do plumbers need a separate login?
Yes. A trade login shows their own rates and balance. Retail visitors see list prices only.
Does it check pressure ratings against a standard?
No. Ratings are held as you or the maker state them, and shown beside the item. Verifying them is not something the software does.
