Dental Lab Work Orders for Crowns and Dentures
Crowns, bridges, dentures and aligners go out to a dental lab against a work order. The clinic sees what is out, what is due back and which patient is waiting for a fitting.
A work order for each case
What the clinic can see
A list shows every case out with the lab, grouped by lab and by due date. Overdue cases stand out. Reception can answer a patient who rings to ask whether the crown has come back.
Lab charges
Each lab’s charge for a case is entered against the order. At month end the clinic can see what it owes each lab, and set it against the fee billed to the patient for the same crown or denture.
What stays outside the system
The lab keeps its own records. Its prices, its working hours and its delivery are its own. How the clinic pays a lab, and any tax treatment of that payment, is for the clinic and its accountant.
Frequently asked questions
Can we use more than one lab?
Yes. Each lab is listed with its own contact and charges, and every order names the lab it was sent to.
Does the lab log in to the system?
No. The lab does not use the system. The clinic enters the order and updates it when the case returns.
Can we track a remake?
Yes. A case marked for remake keeps its history, and the new order links back to the first so repeat work can be reviewed.
Are aligner cases handled?
Yes, as long-running orders with several sets. The sets and the review dates are decided with the clinic and entered on the case.
