Housekeeping and Room Status for Hotels
Housekeeping and the counter work off one room status, so nobody telephones the floor to ask. Cleaning rounds, linen issues and blocked rooms are recorded as they happen.
The statuses a room moves through
Four states cover almost every room in the building.
The cleaning round
Each attendant gets a list by floor or block, departures first and stayover rooms after them. The room is marked done from a phone on the floor, and a supervisor check can be required before it turns ready. Linen, towels and amenity items issued to a room come off stock as they are entered. Damage found inside is raised as a maintenance job from the same screen. Nothing waits for the morning meeting.
Linen and amenity stock
What the hotel decides
- Whether a supervisor check is needed before a room turns ready
- How floors and blocks are split between attendants
- Which linen and amenity items are counted per room
- Who may block a room and who may release it
- Whether attendants mark rooms from a phone or a desk
Frequently asked questions
Can a room be marked ready from a phone?
Yes. Attendants update status on the floor, and the counter sees the change without a telephone call.
Does the counter know a room is still dirty?
Yes. The chart carries status beside availability, so a key does not go out too early.
How is damage in a room reported?
The attendant raises a maintenance job from the room, and the room can stay blocked until the work is finished.
Is linen counted room by room?
Yes, where you want that detail. Items are issued against a room and come off stock as they are entered.
