Two-Wheeler and Car Loans With the Vehicle on the Record

A vehicle loan is an EMI schedule with a collateral record attached to it. The vehicle, its papers and its repayments belong together, because the day you release the security you need all three in front of you.

The file a dealer sends over

Most of these applications arrive through a dealer or a DSA, half complete, on a Tuesday evening. The enquiry is logged with that source on it. At month end you can see which dealer sent files that reached disbursement and which sent paper that went nowhere.

On the loan record

The vehicle itself

Make, model, registration number, engine and chassis, and the valuation used at sanction are listed against the loan in the collateral register.

RC and insurance

The scanned RC, the insurance policy and its renewal date are kept on the file. Policies lapse. A lapsed policy on a vehicle you hold as security is worth seeing in March, not after the accident.

Down payment and disbursement

What the borrower paid, what you released and the bank reference for it sit in the disbursement register, against the sanctioned amount.

Release when it closes

The last EMI comes in and the collateral is marked for release, with the date and the person who handed the papers back. No file leaves the office without that entry.

Collecting on vehicle loans

  • Monthly or weekly EMI schedules, built from your own interest method
  • Field collection for borrowers who pay cash at the shop or the house
  • Overdue buckets, with the vehicle detail in front of whoever makes the visit
  • Renewal or a top-up offered to a borrower who has paid well
  • Loans closing this month and vehicles due for release
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you connect to VAHAN or an insurer’s system?

No. Registration and insurance details are typed or scanned onto the loan file, and the renewal date is what raises the reminder. Nothing is fetched from a government or insurer feed.

We finance used two-wheelers in small towns. Same setup?

Yes, and it is a common one. Smaller tickets, shorter tenures and doorstep collection are a configuration of the same loan product, not a different system.

Can we see which dealer our business is coming from?

Yes. Every enquiry carries its source through to disbursement, so the month’s report shows files by source and by officer. Dealers who send you nothing but incomplete paper become visible fairly quickly.
