Damage Claims for Packers and Movers
A chipped table or a missing carton turns into a claim, and a claim needs the record behind it. Each one opens on the move it belongs to.
What a claim holds
How a claim moves along
A claim carries a stage and an owner. The desk logs it, the coordinator asks the supervisor what happened, and the owner decides what to offer. A carpenter sent to repair a bed is recorded as an action on the claim rather than as a fresh job nobody can trace. Where the customer holds a policy, the insurer’s correspondence is attached as it arrives. Claims open past a number of days show on the owner screen.
Settlement and closing
What the system does not decide
- What a claim is worth is settled by you and the customer
- An insurer decides its own liability under the policy it issued
- Deductions from a crew or contractor follow your own terms
- Legal advice on a disputed claim comes from your advisor
Frequently asked questions
Can a claim be opened weeks after delivery?
Yes. It still attaches to the move, and the tally signed at delivery is read alongside what the customer now reports.
Who can see claims against a crew?
The owner and whoever the owner allows. A supervisor sees claims on his own moves and is asked for his account of them.
Does it handle the insurer’s paperwork?
It holds the policy reference and attaches the correspondence. The claim with the insurer is pursued by the customer or by you, as agreed.
Can a settlement be adjusted against the balance?
Yes. The adjustment goes to billing from the claim, and the invoice shows it as a line the customer can read.
