Delivery and Carton Tally for Movers

At the new address every carton is called off the packing list before the crew leaves. Unpacking and reassembly are recorded, and the signature is taken with any shortage already noted.

The tally at the door

Carton by carton

Numbers are ticked as cartons come off the lorry, either read aloud from the list or scanned where labels carry a barcode.

Loose articles

Beds, almirahs, cycles and plant pots are counted against the loose-article list made at packing.

Shortages

A number not found is marked short there and then, and the supervisor notes whether it was loaded at all.

Visible damage

A dented carton or a cracked glass top is photographed at the door, before unpacking, and the photograph joins the move.

Unpacking and putting back

A family that paid for unpacking expects beds standing and cartons cleared. The crew records which rooms were unpacked, which beds and wardrobes were reassembled and whether an air conditioner was refitted or left for a technician. Empty cartons taken away are counted too, since some families ask to keep a few. Work the customer asked the crew to stop is written down with that reason.

Signature and what follows

Receipt on delivery

The customer signs on the phone or on a printed copy, and the tally as signed is what the office holds.

Balance payment

Extras actually used at delivery, such as a long carry or waiting time, go to billing from this record.

A claim, where needed

Shortage and damage marked here open the claim, so nobody has to rebuild the story from phone calls a week later.

What the tally leaves open

  • Settlement of a shortage is agreed with the customer afterwards
  • Scanning needs a reader at the delivery end as well
  • A technician for appliance fitting may be yours or the customer’s
  • Whether a signature is taken on paper or on a phone is your choice
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can the signature be taken on a phone?

Yes. The customer signs on the screen, and a printed copy can be given where the family prefers paper.

What if delivery runs across two days?

The tally stays open. Cartons delivered on the first day are ticked, and the rest are called off when the lorry returns.

Are photographs needed at delivery?

Only where something looks damaged. Those pictures are what a later claim is read against, so crews are asked to take them.

Does the office see a shortage at once?

Yes, as soon as the supervisor marks it. The coordinator can call the loading end while the crew is still at the house.
