Dental Consumables and Stock Management
A dental clinic uses composites, anaesthetic cartridges, burs, gloves and many small disposables. This module counts them, sets reorder levels and lists items close to expiry before anyone reaches for them.
What is counted
Using stock against procedures
The clinic can link the usual consumables to a procedure, so that a filling draws down a set of items by itself. An assistant can also record use by hand. Counts then stay close to what is physically on the shelf in the stock room, which makes a monthly stock check shorter.
Reordering
Items below their reorder level appear on a list. An order goes to the supplier from the system. Receipt is entered when goods arrive, and supplier bills and payments can be recorded against the order.
What the clinic decides
Which items to count, how finely, and who may adjust a count are the clinic’s choices. Where the clinic wants labels on shelves, a label printer or scanner can be attached. Scoping settles it.
Frequently asked questions
Does every glove and swab need counting?
No. The clinic picks which items to track closely and which to treat as bulk, so the stock room is not over-counted and nobody spends an evening on it.
Can it handle batch and expiry for drugs?
Yes. Cartridges and medicines carry a batch and an expiry date. Near-expiry items are listed.
Can two branches share stock?
Yes. Stock is held per branch, and a transfer from one to the other is recorded.
Can the dentist see what is left?
Yes, where the clinic gives that access. A dentist can check the count of an item before a procedure that needs it is booked for the following week.
