Enquiry and Site Survey Records for Electrical Contractors
Every wiring enquiry is recorded with its source, site and survey visit. The connected load, point count and drawings received stay on the enquiry, so the quotation starts from what was seen at the site.
What an enquiry record holds
An electrical enquiry usually arrives by phone, from a builder, or through a reference from an earlier client. Each one gets a record the day it comes in.
The site survey
A survey visit is booked against the enquiry with the estimator or supervisor who will go, and what was seen is entered once the visit is over.
From survey to quotation
Once the survey is entered, the estimator opens a quotation from the same record. Counts, drawings and notes carry across. A lost enquiry keeps its reason, which helps the owner see why work was not won.
What this page does not do
The record does not price the work or visit the site. Load calculations and the design of a panel remain with the engineer or the contractor’s own estimator. What the supply authority needs for a new connection is confirmed with the client.
Frequently asked questions
Can one enquiry cover several buildings?
Yes. A builder with three blocks can be entered as one enquiry with a survey for each block, and each block becomes its own quotation line later.
Who enters the survey details?
The estimator or the supervisor who visited, from the office or on a mobile while at the premises. The office sees the entry as it is made.
What happens when a client does not reply?
The enquiry stays open and shows on the follow-up list. It can be closed as lost, with a reason typed against it.
Is a drawing review part of this module?
No. Drawings are stored and attached, but checking them against the load is the engineer’s work.
