Production Job Cards for Modular Kitchen Work

Each approved kitchen becomes a set of job cards that the workshop builds from. Stages are marked as they finish, so the showroom knows what is ready.

From work order to cutting list

The approved unit list is turned into panels. Sizes come from the measurement sheet and your own allowances for filler, skirting and scribe. Board grade and thickness print beside each panel, and the edge band colour goes on the same sheet. Panels are grouped by board so a full sheet is used well. The list can be printed for the panel saw or sent out to a cutting supplier.

Stages a unit passes through

Cutting

Panels are cut and tallied against the list. Offcuts worth keeping are noted.

Edge banding

Exposed edges are banded in the colour on the card, and the operator marks the stage done.

Drilling and hardware prep

Hinge, channel and dowel holes are drilled to the fittings recorded for that unit, which is why the hardware selection is fixed before cutting.

Assembly

Carcasses are put together, drawers made up and shutters matched. The unit gets its project label.

Packing and labelling

Units are wrapped and labelled with the project, the unit code and the wall they belong to. Labels can come off a printer.

What the owner sees

Job cards roll up into a view of factory load. Kitchens waiting to be cut, units in assembly and projects packed and ready for dispatch each have their own count. A unit held up for a shutter finish that has not arrived shows against the project, not buried in a worker diary. Delivery dates can then be discussed with the client on the strength of the floor.

What job cards do not do

  • They do not run your panel saw or edge bander directly
  • Machine time costing and worker piece rates are separate work
  • Which stages you record is set from how your workshop runs
  • Quality standards for a finish remain your own call
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What if panels are cut outside our workshop?

The cutting list is still raised, and it goes out as a purchase order to the panel supplier. Receipt of cut panels is then recorded.

Can two kitchens be cut together?

Yes. Panels from more than one project can be grouped by board, and each panel keeps its project and unit code.

Does a worker mark the stage on the shop floor?

Yes, where a tablet or a shared screen is placed in the workshop. Otherwise the factory in-charge updates the cards.

Are unit labels printed?

Labels can print from a label or barcode printer, and the model is confirmed when the workshop is set up.
