Carcass Board and Shutter Finishes for Kitchens

Board grade and shutter finish are fixed unit by unit, from the lists your showroom actually sells. The choice then travels to the quotation and the cutting list.

Choices held against each unit

A kitchen rarely uses one material throughout. The record follows that.

Carcass board

Plywood grade, particle board or high density board with its thickness, chosen per unit so a wet area under the sink can differ from a loft.

Shutter finish

Laminate, acrylic, membrane, veneer or paint, with the code or shade name from the sample the client picked in the showroom.

Edge and profile

Edge band colour and thickness, and whether the shutter takes a profile handle, a J groove or a separate handle.

Internal finish

What lines the inside of the carcass and the back panel. Clients ask about this more than designers expect.

Countertop and skirting

Granite, quartz or sintered surface with its thickness and edge, plus the skirting material below the base units.

Working from your own sample list

Board grades, laminate ranges, acrylic shades and paint finishes are loaded as your showroom lists them, with the brand and the code on the sample card. A rate sits behind each one, so changing a shutter from laminate to acrylic changes the quote without anyone rebuilding it. Discontinued shades can be hidden from the list. Our staff add new ranges when you send them.

Where the selection goes next

Into the quotation

Each quoted line shows the unit, the board behind it and the finish, so the client reads what the rate covers.

Into production

The cutting list carries board grade and thickness. The edge bander operator sees the band colour on the job card.

Into purchase

Board and laminate quantities for the project build into orders on your dealers, with shade codes written on the order.

What this module does not decide

  • It does not recommend a material or compare brands for you
  • Warranty on a board or a laminate rests with its maker
  • Which ranges you stock and show is your commercial call
  • Rates behind each finish are loaded from your price list
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can different units use different board grades?

Yes. The unit under the sink can take one grade while the loft takes another, and both print on the cutting list.

Are laminate codes stored?

Yes. Brand, code and shade name are kept, so a replacement shutter years later matches what was fitted.

Does changing a finish update the quotation?

It does, where a rate is behind that finish. The quote is reissued as a new version and the old one remains.

Can we load our own sample ranges?

Yes. The ranges you sell are entered at set-up, and our staff add later arrivals when you ask.
