Packing Material Stock for Movers
Cartons, wrap, film, tape and crates are bought in bulk and used up by the crews. Stock counts sit against each item, and every move books out what it took.
What is counted
Issue, return and reorder
Material is issued to a move, not to a person. The supervisor draws cartons and rolls against the move number, and what comes back unused is returned to stock the same evening. Stock on hand then reflects what the godown actually holds instead of what was bought last month. An item that falls under its reorder level shows on the owner screen, so the next purchase is placed before a packing morning is held up.
Reading material against moves
What this module does not do
- It is not a godown layout plan with rack positions
- Reorder levels are numbers you choose, not ones we set
- A reusable crate is counted only if your crews bring crates back
- Supplier rate negotiation stays off the system entirely
Frequently asked questions
Must material be issued before packing starts?
No. A supervisor can draw material in the morning and enter the counts afterwards, as long as the move number is on it.
Can unused cartons go back to stock?
Yes. Returns are entered against the move, and the stock on hand rises again by the same count.
Does it show what each move cost in material?
It shows the counts drawn against the move. Valuing them is for your accounts, from the supplier bills already entered.
Can two godowns hold stock separately?
Yes. Each godown carries its own counts, and a transfer between them is recorded as a movement.
