Transit Tracking for Packers and Movers
Between loading and delivery a family has only the driver’s number to call. Transit records put the halts, the position and the expected delivery day on the move file instead.
What is logged on the road
What the customer is told
Updates go out as the record changes. A message on departure, one when the lorry is a day away, and one before the crew reaches the gate cover most of what a family asks. Messages travel by WhatsApp or text message, with the consignment note number in them so the customer can quote it back. How often you write to a customer is your decision, and the desk can always add a message by hand.
Who reads the transit view
What tracking cannot promise
- A hired lorry reports only what its driver tells you
- GPS needs a device on the vehicle, and that is quoted separately
- Road conditions and police checks move delivery days, not the software
- Live map position per carton is not part of this
Frequently asked questions
Does the customer get a tracking link?
A message with the current status can be sent. A live map link needs a GPS device, and that is confirmed while scoping.
Can the driver update from his phone?
Yes. He marks departure, a halt and arrival, and the office sees each entry with its time.
What if goods sit in a godown midway?
The halt is logged with the godown and the dates. Storage days can then be billed with the balance.
Can one lorry carry two moves?
Yes. Each consignment keeps its own halts and delivery day, even where the vehicle is shared between two families.
