Transport Routes and Vehicles for Schools
The transport module keeps routes, stops and vehicles, and assigns each student to a stop. Transport fees link to the route, and vehicle service dates are kept on the vehicle.
Routes, stops and vehicles
Transport on the student record
The stop sits on the student record beside the class and the hostel room. The office sees it on the same screen where it takes fees. A change of stop is entered once, and every list that depends on it follows from that entry. No second bus register is kept.
Transport fee linked to the route
Transport is one of the fee heads on the school’s fee structure, and it links to the route. The amount charged follows the route a student is assigned to. Dues sit on the same ledger as tuition, lab and hostel fees. Students are read by bus route and stop, with the transport fee status of each.
What it does not do
- It does not show a bus on a live map
- It does not replace the school’s own vehicle inspections
- Fee amounts per route are set by the school
- Route and stop names are entered by the transport in-charge
- Anything beyond this list is agreed during scoping
Frequently asked questions
Is there live school bus tracking?
No. The module keeps routes, stops, vehicles and each student’s stop, and links the transport fee to the route. It does not show the bus on a map.
Can the transport fee differ by route?
Yes. The fee is linked to the route, and the amounts for each route are entered by the school as it charges them today.
Where do vehicle service dates go?
They are kept on the vehicle record, where the person managing the buses reads them. The school decides how far ahead it wants to look.
Who sees the list of students on a bus?
Students by route and stop are read by whoever manages transport. What other staff can open is decided by role at go-live.
