Test Marks and Rank Lists for Coaching Batches
Tests are the measure a coaching centre is judged by. This module schedules them by batch, holds the marks subject by subject, and keeps each student’s score history for the year.
Scheduling a test
A test is created for one or more batches before the paper is set.
Entering and reading marks
Marks are typed subject by subject against the students who sat the paper, and an absentee is marked rather than given a zero. Marks can also be brought in from an OMR output or a spreadsheet, which is checked during scoping. Once entry is complete the rank list for the batch is ready. Each student record carries the score history across every test of the year. Weak subjects stand out.
What the marks are used for
What the client decides
- How a rank is worked out and whether it is shown to students
- Whether an absentee is ranked at all in that test
- Which test types the centre runs and what each is called
- Whether parents receive marks for every test or only the monthly ones
Frequently asked questions
Can marks be brought in from OMR sheets?
Often. It depends on the output your scanner produces, so the file is checked during scoping before anything is promised.
Does a student see the whole batch rank list?
That is the centre’s call. Some owners show only the student’s own marks and rank, and keep the full list inside.
Is the score history kept across the year?
Yes. Every test the student sat stays on the record, subject by subject, with the batch rank.
Can one test be written by two batches together?
Yes. The test names both batches, and the rank list can be read for each batch or for the two together.
