Software Solutions for Security Camera Sellers

A camera is sold as part of a system. A buyer needs the right number of channels, a recorder or cloud storage, a hard disk sized to the days of footage they want and often a person to fit it. Sellers online combine kit design, storage plans, installation and support in one order.

At a glance

Sell camera kits sized to the site, with storage and plans included.

Two buyers can ask for four cameras and need different things. One wants a wired recorder and a hard disk, the other wants wireless cameras and a cloud plan.

Businesses and operating models

Camera brands with cloud plans

A brand sells wireless cameras at a modest price and earns from a monthly plan for stored clips.

Kit sellers for shops and homes

A seller offers four, eight or sixteen camera kits with a recorder, cables and a disk, and often installs them.

Distributors to installers

A distributor lets installers order cameras, recorders and cabling by the box at trade rates.

How an order moves

The workflow for security cameras.

  1. 1

    Describing the site

The buyer says how many entrances, indoor areas and outdoor areas need cover, and whether wiring exists.

  2. 2

    Kit proposed

A kit is suggested with the channel count, camera types, recorder and disk size. The buyer can swap parts.

  3. 3

    Storage chosen

Local disk or cloud plan, and the number of days of footage kept, set the disk size or the plan tier.

  4. 4

    Dispatch with serial and address

Each camera’s serial and network address are recorded at packing so support can find it later.

  5. 5

    Fitting and activation

Where fitting is offered, a visit is booked. Once installed, any cloud plan starts and the renewal date is recorded.

Where it breaks

The challenges, and what they cost.

Kits are under-specified

A recorder with too few channels, or a disk too small for the days wanted, shows up only after the cameras are mounted.

Storage plans lapse silently

A cloud plan expires and recording stops being kept. The buyer learns this when they need a clip.

Faulty cameras need quick replacement

A camera at an entrance goes offline and a replacement must be sent with the same settings and serial history.

Installers buy differently

Trade buyers order by project and want cabling and fittings in the same basket, with credit terms.

Requirements to assess

What is specific to this trade.

These are requirements we would confirm in discovery. They describe what the solution may need to handle. They are not features that already exist.

  • A kit configurator that checks channels, recorder and disk against the site
  • Storage sizing rules agreed with your technical team
  • Plan entitlements and renewal dates tied to the camera serial
  • Replacement flows that keep serial history across swaps
Recommended modules

What we would build for security cameras.

Chosen from the commerce capabilities this business needs, not a list of everything.

Kit configurator

Chooses channels, camera types, recorder and disk from the answers about the site.

Storage and plan sizing

Converts days of footage and camera count into a disk size or a plan tier.

Camera register

Serial and network address of each camera, linked to the order and the site.

Plan renewals

Plan start, end and reminders, with renewal payments recorded.

Replacement and warranty

A fault case from a serial, a swap unit dispatched and the history kept.

Users and permissions

Who works in the system, and what each can do.

Pre-sales adviser

Reviews proposed kits for larger sites and adjusts them before payment.

Installation coordinator

Books visits and passes jobs to fitters.

Support engineer

Finds a camera by serial, checks its plan and sends a replacement.

Integrations

What it would connect to.

An integration is confirmed only after its API, access and scope are checked. A connection that updates on a schedule is described as scheduled, not real-time.

  • The camera maker’s cloud service, only where it publishes an interface that sellers may use
  • An installer’s job tool, such as the CCTV installer product where an installer already runs it
  • Recurring payment methods offered by your provider, within its terms
Implementation

How the work runs, and what we need from you.

What you provide

  • Your kits, channel counts and storage rules
  • Your plans and what each includes
  • Your installation areas and partners

Capture the sizing rules

Your technical team writes down how it chooses a recorder and disk, and those rules drive the configurator.

Test against real sites

A handful of past installations are run through the configurator to see if it picks what was fitted.

Deliverables

What you receive.

  • A kit configurator and sizing rules
  • A camera register and replacement flow
  • Plan and renewal handling
  • Training for advisers and support
Measurement

How progress is judged.

Measures are agreed against your own baseline. We do not promise a result in advance.

  • Kits changed after the order was placed
  • Plans renewed against plans that lapsed
India and international

Selling at home and abroad.

Practice on recording, storing and displaying notices differs by country. Your adviser specifies the wording and defaults, and cloud storage location may matter to buyers in some markets.

Suitable software

Security Camera E-commerce & Plan Management Software

Custom software solution

No existing GullySystem product designs camera kits or manages storage plans for sellers, so the software would be custom. An installer’s job side can use the existing CCTV installer product.

Common questions

Questions about security cameras e-commerce.

Can the store design a kit from a description of the site?

It can propose one from rules you set. A larger or unusual site still goes to an adviser for a check.

Does it hold the video?

No. Footage lives on the recorder or in the maker’s cloud. This software holds the sale, the plan and the warranty.

Can it stop a camera working when a plan ends?

Not on its own. That depends on the maker’s service. The software can warn the buyer and record the lapse.
