Drawing Register and Revisions for Architects
Every plan, section, elevation and detail takes a number, and every change takes a revision. The register shows the revision in force and what each earlier one altered.
What a register entry holds
Why a revision is raised
A revision follows a client comment, a consultant input, an authority query or something found on site. The reason comes from your own list, so the register can later be read by cause. A revision raised during a site visit is linked back to the visit report. Reasons are never left blank.

What the studio sets up
- Your numbering pattern for plans, sections, elevations and details
- The revision letters or numbers your office has always used
- The list of reasons on which a revision may be raised
- Who may check a sheet and release it for issue
- Whether drawing files are uploaded here or kept on a cloud drive
Frequently asked questions
Does it open or read CAD files?
No. The register holds the entry, the revision and an uploaded file, while drafting stays in your CAD software.
Can an older revision be recovered?
Yes. Earlier revisions stay against the number with their files, and the one in force is marked plainly.
Who is allowed to raise a revision?
Roles your partners nominate. The person and the date are stored with the revision as it is raised.
May revisions be numbered within a stage?
Yes, where the practice already does that. The pattern goes in as your office writes it.
