Site Visit Reports for Architects
Site supervision produces more notes than any other stage. A visit report carries the date, the people met, the photographs taken and the instructions left for the contractor.
What a visit report records
From visit to closure
A snag opens with the visit that raised it and stays open until a later visit marks it closed. The contractor gets the snag list by WhatsApp or mail. A deviation the studio accepts turns into a drawing revision with the site visit as its reason. Open snags carry forward.
Who uses the reports
What this page does not do
- It does not test material or certify work on site
- It does not run the contractor’s labour or material records
- It does not measure work for the contractor’s running bill
- It does not decide who pays for a deviation
Frequently asked questions
Does the report work without a signal on site?
Entries can be typed and photographs attached, and they upload once the phone finds a network again.
Can snags be grouped by trade?
Yes. Masonry, plumbing, electrical and finishing snags can be listed apart for the contractor.
Who closes a snag?
The architect who verifies it on a later visit. A contractor’s claim of completion is recorded separately.
Is a printed visit report produced?
Yes. The report prints with its photographs for the file, the client and the contractor.
