Site Jobs and Work Orders for Electrical Contractors

An approved quotation becomes a site job with floors, stages, a team and a supervisor. Progress, snags and handover are kept on the job, so the office and the site read the same record.

Setting up a site job

The job opens with the planned scope from the approved quotation, and the office then divides it into the parts of the building the site will actually work in.

Floors, blocks and areas

A job is split into floors, blocks or flats, and each area carries its own planned points, panels and cable runs from the quotation.

Work stages

Conduit laying, wire pulling, switch and fitting fixing, panel termination, testing and handover are typical stages, and your own stage names can replace them.

Team and supervisor

A supervisor and a group of electricians, wiremen and helpers are assigned. A technician can move between sites, and the record shows which.

Tracking progress on site

The supervisor marks each area against its stage. Work done is read against the plan.

Daily work notes

A short note and photographs record what was done and what stopped the work, so a civil delay or a missing drawing is written down that day.

Work orders to teams

A work order gives a team or gang a defined piece of work, such as wiring a floor. It later links to the measurement and the payment.

Variations

Extra points or a changed layout asked for on site are entered as a variation against the job. They feed the next running bill.

Snags and handover

When a floor is complete, the client or consultant walks it and points out faults. Each one goes on the snag list with the technician responsible and the date it was cleared. The handover record closes the job and starts any service contract.

What the job record leaves out

It does not draw the layout or schedule other trades. The plumber and the carpenter work to their own plans. Testing and inspection steps the site must follow are decided with the client and the consultant.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can one firm run many sites at the same time?

Yes. Each site is its own job with its own team, material and bills. The owner’s view lists every site with its stage.

Can a technician work on two sites in a day?

Yes. Attendance can be split across sites, and labour cost follows the split.

Are photographs stored with the job?

Yes. Photographs taken from the phone are attached to the area and date they were taken.

Does it handle other trades on the same site?

No. It covers the electrical work only. Other trades keep their own plans.
