Enquiries and Quotations for Manufacturers
Every buyer enquiry is logged with the drawing, sample or specification it arrived with. Costing and the quotation that follows stay attached to that same enquiry.
What an enquiry record holds
Costing the part
A quotation on a machined or fabricated part rests on material weight, machine hours, outside processes and packing. The enquiry screen takes each of those as its own line, so a rate can be rebuilt months later when the buyer asks why it moved. Scrap allowance sits with the material line. Charges from a plating or heat treatment vendor go in as that vendor quoted them, and tooling or pattern cost can be shown separately.
From quotation to order
What this module does not do
- It does not price a job for you, because rates belong to your unit
- It does not read dimensions or weights out of a drawing file
- It does not commit a delivery week on its own
- Costing heads and who may approve a rate are settled with the owner
Frequently asked questions
Can an enquiry arrive by WhatsApp?
Yes. The message and any photograph of the part can be saved on the enquiry, and the reply goes back from the same screen.
How many revisions can one quotation carry?
As many as the buyer asks for. Each revision keeps its own date and rate, so the earlier figure is never written over.
Does the costing sheet follow our own heads?
Material, machine time, outside process and packing are the usual heads. Yours are entered when the unit is set up.
Will a lost enquiry stay on record?
Yes. It closes with a reason, and the buyer stays in the list for the next drawing that comes in.
