Installation Stage Tracking for Rooftop Solar Crews

Each accepted job is split into stages such as structure, panel mounting, DC and AC wiring and earthing. Crews close stages from a phone, with photos, so the office sees where every roof stands.

Stages on a rooftop job

Structure and mounting

The crew places the foundation or clamps and the mounting frame, then the panels. Closing the stage records who did it and the panel serials fitted. Every stage has an owner.

Wiring and protection

DC cabling, the inverter, the AC side, earthing and lightning protection each carry their own tick. A stage cannot be closed without the photo your checklist asks for.

Crew and date

The office assigns a crew and a day. A job that overruns shows on the board, so the next day’s crews can be moved. Nobody has to guess.

What the office sees

The board lists jobs by stage, which shows the owner how many roofs are at structure and how many are waiting for wiring. A stage held back by material shows the item that is missing. Customers asking for an update get an answer from the screen. The screen is the status report.

Next step

When the last installation stage closes, the job moves to commissioning and the paperwork team is told. The invoice for the stage payment can be raised from the same job. Billing follows the roof.

What the client decides

  • The stages and their order for each plant type
  • The photo or reading each stage must carry before it closes
  • Who may reopen a closed stage
  • Whether crews are your own staff or hired labour teams
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can a subcontracted crew update stages?

Yes. A subcontractor’s team can be given its own login limited to the jobs assigned to it. Other jobs stay hidden from that team.

Does it track labour cost?

Not by default. Crew day rates or piece rates can be added during scoping if you pay by the job.

Can the stages differ for a hybrid plant?

Yes. Each plant type has its own stage list, so a hybrid job includes battery steps that an on-grid job does not.

What if a stage fails inspection?

The stage is reopened with a note, and the crew sees what must be corrected before the job moves on.
