Faculty Records and Teaching Hours for Coaching Centres
Coaching centres run on regular and visiting faculty, and many are paid by the hour or by the batch. This module keeps their records and counts the hours taught.
The faculty record
One record per teacher, whether on the rolls or visiting for a few sittings a week.
How hours add up
Hours come from the timetable and the attendance marking, not from a separate claim sheet. A sitting that was held and marked counts for the teacher who took it. A substitute duty counts for the substitute, and the regular teacher does not get it. Cancelled sittings drop out. Doubt classes and test invigilation can be counted as well, where the centre has agreed to pay a teacher for them.
What the owner reads
What this module does not do
- It does not run payroll or calculate statutory deductions for the centre
- It does not set rates, which the owner agrees with each teacher
- It does not grade a teacher from test averages on its own
- Payroll rules and deductions are a matter for the centre’s accountant or advisor
Frequently asked questions
Does a visiting teacher get counted differently?
Yes. The pay basis on the record decides whether hours, sittings or a monthly figure are the measure for that teacher.
Can a teacher see their own hours?
Yes, where the owner turns that on. The teacher then reads sittings held and hours taught for the month.
Are the hours sent to a payroll package?
Not on their own. The hours report goes to whoever prepares pay, and any direct link is quoted as separate work.
What happens when a sitting is cancelled?
It is marked cancelled and left out of the hour count, with the reason kept against the date.
