Class Booking and Waitlist for Yoga Studios

Students reserve a place in a yoga batch from a phone or at the desk. A full class opens a waitlist, and a cancelled place goes to the next student on it.

How a booking works

One booking ties one student to one class on one date.

Reserving a place

The student picks a class from the week’s timetable. The system checks that the hall has room and that her plan is valid for that day, before the place is held.

The waitlist

When the evening Vinyasa class is full, new requests join a queue in order. The desk sees who is first without scrolling through a long thread of messages from the group.

Cancelling

Someone who cannot come cancels before the class starts, and the place is released. The studio sets how late a cancellation may be.

Moving a place

Moving from Tuesday’s batch to Thursday’s is one step. The old place frees up and the new one is held.

Late cancellations and no-shows

Some studios count a session from the pass when a student books and does not turn up. Others return it if she cancelled in time. Both are rules the studio sets once. The attendance list then shows who booked, who came and who did not.

How booking connects to the class

The booked list is what the teacher sees when she opens the class on her phone, with the waitlist shown below it. Walk-ins are added on the spot at the desk. Once the class is marked, each booking becomes either a session used or a no-show.

What the studio decides

  • How many days ahead students may book
  • The cut-off for cancelling without losing a session
  • Whether a waitlisted student is promoted automatically or by the desk
  • Whether drop-in students may book at all
  • Which plans allow booking at peak batches
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can students book from their own phones?

Yes. A student can see the timetable and reserve a place. The desk can also book on her behalf when she calls or sends a message, and the booking shows on the same list the teacher reads.

Is the waitlist first come, first served?

Yes, by default. The studio can ask the desk to confirm each promotion instead, for example when a popular evening batch is kept for monthly members and not for drop-ins.

Does a booking use up a pass session?

That depends on the rule the studio chooses. The session is counted either at booking or when the student is marked present.

Can the desk overbook a class?

Only when the studio owner permits it. By default the hall capacity is a firm limit and further requests join the waitlist.
