Medicine Dispensary and Stock for Ayurveda Clinics
The dispensary issues kashayams, choornams, tablets, arishtams, ghritas and oils against prescriptions, from batches with expiry dates. Stock falls as medicines are issued, and reorder levels flag what is running low.
At the dispensary counter
Purchase and reorder
Each medicine has a reorder level, and an item that falls below it appears on a list for ordering. Orders to a supplier are raised from that list, and goods received are entered against the order with the batch and the expiry date of each lot.
Who uses it
The dispensary in-charge fills prescriptions and counts stock, while the owner reads what is moving and what is lying unsold on the shelf. Vaidyas see whether a medicine is in stock as they write the prescription.
What the client decides
Rules for storing and selling medicines are for the clinic and its advisor to settle. The software holds the records it is given.
- The medicine list, with classical and proprietary items
- Units and pack sizes for each medicine
- Reorder levels and the supplier for each item
- Whether the counter sells to people who have not consulted
- How expired or damaged stock is written off
Frequently asked questions
Can stock be counted by batch?
Yes. Each batch carries its own quantity and expiry date, and the oldest is offered first at the counter.
Does it handle supplier orders?
Yes. Orders are raised from the reorder list and received goods are entered against them with batch details.
Can the dispensary sell without a prescription?
Where the clinic allows it. Counter sales are billed and taken off stock in the same way as prescription sales.
Will vaidyas see what is in stock?
Yes. Availability shows on the prescription screen, so a vaidya can pick a medicine the dispensary holds.
