Godown and Display Stock for Tile Showrooms
Boxes are counted by rack and bay in the godown, apart from the pieces fixed on the showroom boards. The counter and the godown read one figure.
How stock is held
What moves stock
Stock rises when a company load is received against a purchase order. It falls when a challan is raised and the lorry pulls out for a site. Returns from site put boxes back, and breakage takes them out with a reason. Every movement names the document behind it. A physical count can be entered as a correction, and the difference stays on the record instead of being quietly absorbed.
Reorder levels and slow series
What the client decides
- Rack and bay names, and how finely the godown is divided
- The reorder level for each size and sanitaryware model
- Who may enter a physical count correction
- How long without movement marks a series as slow
- Whether one branch can read another branch’s boxes
Frequently asked questions
Can a physical count be entered?
Yes. The counted figure goes in, the difference is shown, and the record holds who entered it and when.
Are display pieces counted as stock?
No. They sit in a display count of their own, so a board is not sold out from under the showroom.
Does it work with a barcode scanner?
It can, where boxes carry a readable code. Labels can also be printed for series that arrive without one.
Can two godowns be kept separate?
Yes. Each has its own count and its own racks, and a transfer between them is recorded as a movement.
