GullySystem
Manufacturing · Steel Mill Management Software

One connected system for steel orders, heats, quality records and dispatch.

Run customer enquiries, orders, scrap and alloy purchase, heat planning, rolling runs, quality tests, yard stock, dispatch and invoicing from a single record. Each heat and lot carries its chemistry, its test results and its destination from the weighbridge to the customer’s gate. Each mill test certificate is printed from that record, and the balance owed by every customer sits alongside it.

  • Grades, sizes, test fields and certificate layouts follow what each customer asks for
  • Customer list, open orders, yard stock and outstanding invoices carried over
  • GullySystem staff change grades, rate lists and certificate formats on request

GullySystem configures Steel Mill Management Software for steel mills and re-rolling plants, covering orders, purchasing, heats, rolling runs, testing, yard stock and dispatch. Every heat and lot keeps its charge mix, its chemistry and mechanical test results, its yard location and the invoice it left on. Certificates and customer balances are produced from those same records.

Where it breaks today

What goes wrong before the software.

Heat references change at every stage

The melt shop, the rolling mill and the yard each use their own reference. Tracing a delivered bundle to its heat needs three registers.

Test results sit on lab sheets

Chemistry and tensile results are written by the lab and typed again onto certificates. A figure copied wrongly reaches the customer.

Raw material is accepted by weight alone

Scrap and alloy trucks are weighed in, but the lab result arrives later. Material may be charged before anyone has accepted it.

Yield is known only in total

Charge weight and saleable weight are compared at month end. Losses by grade, furnace or shift stay unseen.

Orders are promised against uncertain stock

Yard counts are kept by hand, and reserved bundles are not marked. Two buyers can be promised the same material.

Billing follows dispatch by days

Invoices are raised from a weight copied off the gate pass. Credit limits are checked by memory, so risky customers keep receiving steel.

How it runs

How the work flows through it, step by step.

  1. 1

    Enquiry and quotation

A buyer asks for a grade, a size and a quantity. Your rate list prices the quotation, which goes to the buyer for acceptance or a counter offer.

  2. 2

    Order and material

Once the buyer agrees, the quotation turns into a sales order with a delivery window. Purchase orders go out for scrap, alloys and consumables, and trucks are weighed in.

  3. 3

    Heat and rolling plan

Heats and rolling runs are planned against open orders. Operators record charge, tap weight and output for each run.

  4. 4

    Testing and release

Samples are tested and results are recorded against the heat. A lot is released, held or rejected from the same screen.

  5. 5

    Yard and dispatch

Finished bundles are tagged, weighed and placed in a bay. Trucks are matched to orders, and a gate pass is issued from the record.

  6. 6

    Invoice and collection

A tax invoice follows from the dispatched weight, with the certificate attached. Receipts are posted, and overdue balances go to the credit team.

Modules

What is inside.

Every module can be switched on, left out or changed to match how your team already works.

Enquiries and quotations

Log each enquiry by grade, section and tonnage, and price the quotation off your own rate list. Revisions stay in a single list.

Sales orders and delivery schedule

Confirm orders against delivery windows, split them across dispatches, and see which are late or part supplied.

Scrap, alloy and consumable purchase

Raise purchase orders for scrap, sponge iron, ferro alloys, electrodes and refractories, and compare supplier rates.

Weighbridge and material receipt

Record each truck’s weigh-in and weigh-out, hold material in quarantine until the lab result arrives, then accept or reject it.

Heat planning and charge mix

Plan furnace heats against orders, record the charge mix and tap weight, and read yield for each heat.

Rolling runs and work orders

Plan rolling runs by section and grade, record input and output, and track rejections and cut-offs.

Heat, coil and lot traceability

Give every heat, billet, coil and bundle its own number, so a delivered item can be followed back to the melt and on to the invoice.

Quality tests and certificates

Record chemistry, mechanical tests and dimension checks, and print certificates in the layout each customer expects.

Yard stock and reservations

Hold finished goods by bay, grade and size. Reserve bundles for an order so nobody sells them twice.

Dispatch and invoicing

Match trucks to orders, issue gate passes, and raise tax invoices from the dispatched weight.

Credit limits and receivables

Set limits and payment terms by customer, hold dispatch when a limit is reached, and see overdue balances oldest first.

Solutions inside

The business modules it is built from.

Each one is also available on its own, or inside a system built for you.

  • Estimate/Quotation Management

Each enquiry becomes a quotation priced from the mill’s rate list by grade and section, with every revision kept beside the original.

  • Order Management

A confirmed order carries its delivery window and is split across dispatches, so planners see which orders are late or only part supplied.

  • Goods Receipt (GRN)

Scrap and alloy trucks are weighed in, held in quarantine until the lab result arrives, and only then accepted into stock or rejected.

  • Production Planning

Furnace heats are planned against open orders, and the charge mix, tap weight and yield are recorded for every heat tapped.

  • Batch and Serial Tracking

A number given to each heat, billet, coil and bundle follows it through the mill, the yard bay and the invoice that closed the sale.

  • Quality Control

Chemistry, tensile and dimension results are entered against the heat, and a lot is released or held before any certificate is printed.

  • Stock Tracking and Alerts

Finished bundles are held by bay, grade and size, reserved against orders, and flagged when a bay nears capacity or a size runs short.

  • Credit Limits and Control

Each customer has a limit and payment terms, and a dispatch that would cross the limit is held until an authorised person decides.

Honest answer

When it is not the right choice.

Made to fit

Adapted to your business before it goes live.

You are not handed a login and left to it. The product is set up around your records, your people and the tools you already use.

Grades and test fields

Quality staff hand over the sheets they fill in now, and from them we enter grades, sizes, chemistry limits and mechanical test fields before anything else.

Certificate layouts

Formats for the mill test certificate follow what your customers and inspectors ask to see. Which standard applies is for your team to confirm.

Rate lists and payment terms

Rate lists, credit limits and terms by customer are entered as you agree them now.

Weights, tax and currency

Units of weight, the tax invoice layout and the currency follow the country each plant sells in, and are agreed with you at implementation.

Opening balances and stock

Customers, suppliers, open orders, bundles lying in the yard and unpaid invoices are copied in from the registers or sheets you keep today.

Hosting

The system runs on GullySystem servers, and melt shop, mill, yard and accounts all read one heat and stock record. Edits come from GullySystem staff.

Common questions

Questions owners ask before a demo.

Does it cover both melting and rolling?

Yes. Heat planning, charge mix and tap weight sit beside rolling runs, section output and rejections. A re-roller can start from billet receipt and leave out the melt shop.

Can a bundle be traced back to its heat?

Yes. Each heat, billet, coil and bundle carries a number that links forward to the invoice and back to the melt. Tracing a delivered item is a search, not a walk through registers.

Can certificates be printed in different customer formats?

Yes. During implementation a certificate layout is built for each customer from the test fields your lab records. Which standards or buyer rules apply is for your quality team to confirm.

Can the weighbridge feed weights in automatically?

Not as standard. Weights are typed in or loaded from a file the weighbridge produces. A direct link is scoped separately and depends on the indicator you use.

Can it hold dispatch when a customer is over limit?

Yes. Each customer carries a limit and payment terms. A dispatch that would cross the limit is flagged, and an authorised person decides whether to release it.

Is there a link to furnace or mill automation?

No. Operators enter or import heat data. Plant automation links can be discussed as extra work once your equipment and data formats are known.

Can existing stock and open orders be moved in?

Yes. Customer and supplier lists, open orders, bundles lying in the yard and outstanding invoices are brought in from your registers or spreadsheets. Sales and stores staff review that data before the first heat is logged.

Can several plants share one system?

Yes. Each plant keeps its own heats, stock and users, and head office reads them together. Plants in different countries invoice in their own currency and tax format.

Who owns the data?

You do. The quotation names the file format for taking heat, stock and invoice records out, agreed before any work starts.

What does it cost?

No price is published. The number of log-ins and the share of the mill switched on set the figure. Sample heat records and mill test certificates feature in a demonstration first, and a quotation follows.

Wondering what it costs? Six questions give you a written scope and the buckets any quote should separate.
