Both depend on the same things: a confirmed menu, an accurate head count, groceries bought in time, and the balance collected before the last plate is served.
An enquiry comes through a relative, JustDial or the hall manager. You meet the family, suggest menus, send a quotation per plate, and take an advance. Then the menu changes, once for the grandmother, once for the Jain guests, once when the count goes up.
A few days before the event, the head cook works out quantities of rice, dal, vegetables, oil and sweets from the final count. Purchases are made from the APMC yard and regular suppliers, and cooks, servers and vessels are booked by phone.
On the day, extra plates are added at the hall, and settlement happens that night or weeks later. Corporate contracts add monthly invoices with GST and TDS, and a head count that shifts every day.

Can it make GST invoices and post them to Tally?
Yes. Event and contract invoices are raised with GST and can post to Tally, so your accountant does not retype them.
Will our head cook actually use it?
If it is simple enough, yes. The cook’s screen shows only the approved menu and quantities on a phone, with nothing to type.
Is there ready catering software we could buy?
There are a few, mostly built for restaurants or cloud kitchens. If one fits your events and costing, use it. Custom software makes sense when your menus, costing and contracts don’t fit.
Can the family approve the final menu on their phone?
Yes. Each menu version goes to the family as a link or PDF on WhatsApp, and their approval is recorded against that version. The kitchen sees only the approved one.
