Agriculture · Software for dairy farms

Keep every cow’s milking, breeding and treatment on her own tag record.

A dairy farm earns from individual cows, yet most records add them into one tank figure. The dairy farm software keeps a register per animal, from calf registration through calving, milking, insemination, treatment and dry-off. Milk sold to the processor is matched to the tank. Your vet sets each withdrawal date.

At a glance

A herd is a set of animals, and the money sits in each one. Cow 0417 may calve on time and hold a steady yield while Cow 0422 slips on both, but the bulk tank shows only the sum of every cow, good and poor. Feed, vet bills and labour get charged to the shed as a whole.

Herd management for dairy farms starts with the tag number and builds outward. Every milking, every insemination, every injection and every bag of concentrate is written against an animal or a pen. We begin by mapping a single cow’s year, from calving to dry-off, against every notebook, whiteboard and sheet where it is recorded today.

How the work runs today

Milking runs twice or three times a day, in a parlour or a bucket shed, and each cow’s litres are read from a meter or a jar and written down. The herd manager watches for cows that drop in yield, limp, or come into heat. The vet attends for pregnancy checks, mastitis and calving trouble, and leaves instructions about which milk must be kept out of the tank until a treatment course has cleared. One slip costs the whole load.

Feed is mixed by pen, with silage, green fodder, straw and concentrate weighed in against the number of cows in milk. Heifers and calves are fed on their own rations. Milk goes to a cooling tank, and a collection truck or the farm’s own vehicle takes it to the processor. Statements arrive later, and the farm checks them against its own tank readings. Small gaps add up.

Where it breaks

What goes wrong for dairy farms without a proper system.

Yield is known for the tank, not the cow

Litres are noted per milking on a board or in a book. Nobody can say which cows have dropped across a fortnight until the vet is already in the shed. The loss stays hidden.

Heat and pregnancy dates live in memory

The herdsman remembers which cows were served. When he is off for a week, a cow returns to heat unseen and a whole cycle is lost. That is three weeks gone.

Treated milk can reach the tank

An antibiotic course starts on a Tuesday and the withdrawal date is written on a slate. A relief milker misses it, and the processor rejects the load. Nobody can undo that.

Feed cost cannot be tied to milk

Concentrate and silage are bought in bulk and fed by pen. The owner sees one big feed bill and a milk cheque, with no cost per litre between them. Margins stay unknown.

Calves and heifers drift out of sight

Birth weights, colostrum, weaning and first service date sit with whoever looked after them. Replacement planning becomes guesswork. Heifers arrive late.

What the software does

What we would build for dairy farms.

Named the way your team already talks about the work. We start with whichever part the audit shows is costing you most.

Herd register and animal cards

One card per animal with tag, dam and sire, birth or purchase date, pen, lactation number and status. Moves between pens and sales or deaths close the card.

Milking and yield records

Record litres per cow per milking, by milker or from a meter feed. A cow whose yield falls against her own average is flagged for the manager.

Breeding and calving calendar

Log heat, insemination with the straw or bull used, pregnancy check, expected calving and dry-off date, with due items listed each morning.

Health, treatment and withdrawal

Record each diagnosis, medicine, dose and vet. The milk withdrawal end date is set on the animal, and her milk is marked as held back until it passes.

Feed rations and fodder stock

Set a ration per pen, record silage, green fodder, straw and concentrate drawn each day, and see stock days left against the number of cows in milk.

Milk sales and tank reconciliation

Compare the tank total with the sum of the milkings, record each load to the processor with its fat and solids figures, and raise the milk invoice.

Heifer and calf rearing

Track colostrum, weaning, vaccination, growth checks and first service age for each young animal, so replacements arrive when the milking string needs them.

How it works

How the work runs from Bengaluru for your city.

  1. 1

    The audit, by call

A screen-share and a look at the sheets, accounting reports and WhatsApp groups your team uses. No travel needed.

  2. 2

    A written proposal

Scope, what we build first and the cost, agreed in writing before anything starts.

  3. 3

    Build in short rounds

Working screens shared every few weeks. Your team tests them from your own office.

  4. 4

Go-live, in person when it helps

For data migration and training we can come to your city. Travel is agreed in advance.

  5. 5

    Support online

Fixes, changes and hosting handled remotely by the same team that built it.

Common questions

Questions dairy farms ask before they call.

Can it read yield from our milking meters?

Where the parlour exports a file or a reading per cow, it can be loaded. Where not, the milker keys litres on a phone after each string. Your parlour decides the route.

How are withdrawal periods handled?

You and your vet decide the rule for each medicine. The software then holds that cow’s milk as not for the tank until the date passes, and shows the milker a warning.

Is a ten-cow farm too small?

Possibly. A notebook and a calving chart can carry ten cows. Past forty or so, with hired milkers and a processor contract, a shared record starts to pay for itself in the work it saves.

Can the processor’s statement be checked?

Yes. Each load you sent is recorded with its volume and test figures. When the statement arrives, you compare line by line and note any difference for the next payment.

What happens after I share my requirements?

An engineer reads what you send and replies within one business day. We then look at the software, spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups your business runs on today and write down what works, what slows your team down and what is missing. A demo login, a screen-share or a few screenshots are enough. You get a short written summary ordered by priority, with no obligation to hire us afterwards.

How much will the software cost?

We don’t publish a price, because it depends on what the system has to do. That first review settles the scope, and the cost goes into a written proposal before any work starts.
