Manufacturing · Software for automotive fastener manufacturers

Trace every bolt lot from wire coil to heat treatment, plating and the customer’s pallet.

Fastener plants turn coils of wire into bolts, studs and nuts that carry safety loads in vehicles. The automotive fastener software links each wire coil to its heading, rolling, heat treatment and coating, and keeps the lot record the customer asks for. Plating and coating vendors, customer drawings and certificates stay on the same lot.

At a glance

A bolt is cheap, yet a vehicle maker will stop a line over one bad lot. Coil chemistry, header setup, thread rolling, hardness after furnace and coating thickness all have to be traceable to the pallet that left your dock, often years later. Customers ask for that trail often.

Fastener makers run many part numbers at high volume, with the furnace and the plating shop in the middle of the route. Coil, lot, heat-treat step and test result share one record. When a customer questions a batch, the answer comes straight from that file.

How the work runs today

Wire arrives in coils with a mill certificate, and the stores record the heat number, diameter and coil weight. Planning pairs each order with a part drawing and revision, then picks a coil that suits the grade. The header is set up with dies, punches and a first-off check, and the operator logs pieces per minute and the dies that wear. Stores then tag the coil.

Headed blanks go to thread rolling, where the die set decides the pitch and the finish. Parts then pass through the hardening furnace, tempering and a hardness check, and many lots go out to a coating vendor for zinc flake or plating. On return, the quality team samples for torque, tensile load, coating thickness and visual defects. Packing follows the customer’s label, the lot is closed, and a certificate of conformance goes with the delivery note.

Where it breaks

What goes wrong for automotive fastener manufacturers without a proper system.

Coil heat numbers lose the trail at the pallet

Heat numbers are kept on stores paper, yet a pallet carries just a part number. When a customer returns a complaint, the link from coil to lot to dispatch is rebuilt by hand. The trail takes hours.

Furnace loads are logged on a separate sheet

Belt speed, temperature zones and quench settings are written beside the furnace, away from the work order. A hardness failure then has no recipe attached to it. Nothing links cause to effect.

Outside coating comes back unchecked

Lots travel to the zinc flake or plating shop under a dispatch slip and come back days later. Coating thickness and salt spray results arrive on a separate certificate that nobody matches to the lot. Short counts surface late.

Die and tooling life is guessed

Heading dies, punches and rolling dies are replaced by feel. No one counts the pieces a die set produced before it cracked, which leaves tooling cost per thousand parts as a guess. Old dies simply stay in use.

Customer requirements live in emails

Drawing revisions, sample approvals and label rules are held by one person in the sales office. A line then runs against an older drawing, and the error shows up only in the customer’s incoming check.

What the software does

What we would build for automotive fastener manufacturers.

Named the way your team already talks about the work. We start with whichever part the audit shows is costing you most.

Wire coil receipt and heat number records

Receive each coil against its mill certificate, store the heat number and diameter, and issue it to a header by weight so every blank knows its steel.

Part master with drawing revision

Hold each fastener with its drawing, revision, property class, thread spec, coating and packing rule. A new revision opens only after the quality team signs it.

Heading and rolling work orders

Plan a lot by machine, die set and shift, then record pieces made, scrap and downtime from the header and the thread roller.

Heat treatment batch log

Record furnace load, temperature profile, tempering and hardness readings against the lot, so a failed reading points to the cycle that produced it.

Outside coating and job work

Send lots to a plating or zinc flake vendor on a delivery note, track what returns, and attach the vendor’s thickness and salt spray report to the lot.

Lot inspection and customer certificates

Record torque, tensile, hardness and size samples against the lot. Any lot that fails stays on hold. Only passing lots get a conformance certificate printed.

Tooling and die life

Count pieces per die set and punch, flag a set before its usual life ends, and read tooling cost per thousand parts.

How it works

How the work runs from Bengaluru for your city.

  1. 1

    The audit, by call

A screen-share and a look at the sheets, accounting reports and WhatsApp groups your team uses. No travel needed.

  2. 2

    A written proposal

Scope, what we build first and the cost, agreed in writing before anything starts.

  3. 3

    Build in short rounds

Working screens shared every few weeks. Your team tests them from your own office.

  4. 4

Go-live, in person when it helps

For data migration and training we can come to your city. Travel is agreed in advance.

  5. 5

    Support online

Fixes, changes and hosting handled remotely by the same team that built it.

Common questions

Questions automotive fastener manufacturers ask before they call.

Can we trace a delivered pallet back to the wire coil?

Yes. The pallet carries a lot number, the lot carries its work orders, and each work order names the coil and heat number it drew from. The chain opens from any of those points.

Does it record furnace and tempering settings?

Settings are entered by the furnace operator against the lot, such as belt speed, zone temperatures and quench. Direct readings from a furnace controller are a connection scoped during implementation.

How do we handle parts sent out for coating?

Each lot leaves on an outward delivery note and returns against it. The coater’s thickness and salt spray report is attached to the same lot, and short returns show up as open quantity.

Can quality rules follow what each carmaker asks for?

Each customer gets its own sampling plan, test list and certificate layout, which your quality engineers check with us. The software holds the rules. It does not certify the plant.

What happens after I share my requirements?

An engineer reads what you send and replies within one business day. We then look at the software, spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups your business runs on today and write down what works, what slows your team down and what is missing. A demo login, a screen-share or a few screenshots are enough. You get a short written summary ordered by priority, with no obligation to hire us afterwards.

How much will the software cost?

We don’t publish a price, because it depends on what the system has to do. That first review settles the scope, and the cost goes into a written proposal before any work starts.
