Manufacturing · Software for pLC panel builders

Build each control panel from a bill of materials to a signed test record.

A PLC panel builder turns electrical drawings into wired enclosures that run machines and plants. The panel builder software ties the drawing revision, the bought-in components, the wiring job and the test record to one panel number. Each enclosure keeps its own file.

At a glance

A drawing can change twice before shipping. Drives, PLCs, breakers, relays and terminals come from many suppliers with long lead times, and one missing contactor holds up a whole enclosure.

Builders also carry the software side, meaning the PLC program, HMI screens and drive parameters, and the system keeps hardware, wiring work and firmware versions under the panel number. When a customer asks which program version runs on a panel shipped two years ago, one record should answer, not the memory of whoever wrote it.

How the work runs today

An enquiry arrives with a single-line diagram or a load list, and estimators price the bill of materials, the enclosure, busbar, labour and engineering hours. After the order, the design team issues schematics, a panel layout and a cable schedule, and purchasing places orders for PLCs, drives, switchgear and sheet metal. Stores receive items and kit them. Estimators, designers, buyers and wiremen share one panel. Each holds a different copy of the list, and the copies drift apart as soon as the first revision is issued.

Fabrication drills and mounts the back plate, wiremen lay out ducts and ferrule cables, and every termination follows the cable schedule issued for that panel. Engineers load the program and set drives. The test team runs continuity, insulation and functional checks while the customer may witness a factory acceptance test, and punch items are closed before the panel is crated. Then the panel ships.

Where it breaks

What goes wrong for pLC panel builders without a proper system.

Drawing revisions reach the wiring bay late

The design office issues revision C while wiremen still hold revision B. The mistake shows only at testing. Printed sets stay on benches for weeks, and a team of wiremen can finish a whole feeder section before anyone notices that the schematic it follows has been replaced.

One component holds up the whole panel

Lead times differ for PLC modules, drives and breakers, and without a shortage list per panel, kitting stops while nobody knows which orders are late.

Program versions are kept on a laptop

The PLC project, HMI screens and drive settings live in an engineer’s folder. A later site call cannot name the version.

Test sheets are paper and scattered

Insulation values, I/O checks and factory acceptance notes sit on loose sheets. A customer asking for the record waits.

Quotes miss engineering and test hours

Component prices are matched but panel design, programming and witness testing are added at a guess. Margin disappears on the larger jobs.

What the software does

What we would build for pLC panel builders.

Named the way your team already talks about the work. We start with whichever part the audit shows is costing you most.

Panel quotation from bill of materials

Build the panel price from components, enclosure, busbar, wiring labour and engineering hours, and every quote revision stays on the file.

Drawing and revision control

Store schematics, layouts and cable schedules with their revision, and show the wiring bay only the current issue.

Component procurement and shortages

Raise purchase orders from the panel’s bill of materials and see what is received, late or substituted before kitting starts.

Wiring and assembly jobs

Assign back plate mounting, wiring and termination to named wiremen, with progress against the panel and hours booked. Wiremen see only their own panels, and the foreman reads the hours booked against each stage compared with what the estimate allowed for that section.

Program and parameter register

Keep the PLC project, HMI version and drive parameter sets with the date loaded, so a site visit starts from a known version.

Test records and acceptance

Capture continuity, insulation and functional test results per panel, note witness sign-off, and track punch items to closure.

Dispatch and site commissioning

Pack panels with their drawings and test sheets, and open a commissioning job with the site engineer and open points.

How it works

How the work runs from Bengaluru for your city.

  1. 1

    The audit, by call

A screen-share and a look at the sheets, accounting reports and WhatsApp groups your team uses. No travel needed.

  2. 2

    A written proposal

Scope, what we build first and the cost, agreed in writing before anything starts.

  3. 3

    Build in short rounds

Working screens shared every few weeks. Your team tests them from your own office.

  4. 4

Go-live, in person when it helps

For data migration and training we can come to your city. Travel is agreed in advance.

  5. 5

    Support online

Fixes, changes and hosting handled remotely by the same team that built it.

Common questions

Questions pLC panel builders ask before they call.

Can we price a panel from its bill of materials?

Yes. Component lines, enclosure, busbar, wiring and engineering hours are priced from your own lists, and each revision of the quote stays on file beside the earlier ones.

Does it store the PLC program?

It keeps a register of the project name, version, date loaded and who loaded it, with the files attached. Comparing versions stays in the programming tool.

Can a customer witness test be recorded?

Yes. The test sheet captures each check, the witness name and any punch item raised, and open items must close before the panel is marked ready to ship. Your engineers write the checks and limits, so the sheet follows your own procedure, and a customer-specific step becomes part of the job type instead of being typed again.

What about panels built for different countries?

Voltage, enclosure rating and marking rules differ by destination. Your engineers define the checks per job type, and they are reviewed with your own compliance staff during implementation.

What happens after I share my requirements?

An engineer reads what you send and replies within one business day. We then look at the software, spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups your business runs on today and write down what works, what slows your team down and what is missing. A demo login, a screen-share or a few screenshots are enough. You get a short written summary ordered by priority, with no obligation to hire us afterwards.

How much will the software cost?

We don’t publish a price, because it depends on what the system has to do. That first review settles the scope, and the cost goes into a written proposal before any work starts.
