Manufacturing · Software for rigid packaging manufacturers

Match every bottle, jar and closure to its mould, resin lot and fit test.

Rigid packaging plants mould PET bottles, HDPE jugs, polypropylene tubs and screw caps for food, drink, cosmetics and household goods. The software holds each container specification, the preform and resin lots, the moulds with their live cavities, and the top-load and cap fit tests. Orders are planned by machine and mould, and dispatch follows the tier and slip-sheet pattern the filler expects.

At a glance

A rigid packaging plant makes containers that keep their shape. Injection machines mould preforms and caps, and stretch blow machines reheat the preforms and inflate them into bottles. Jar and tub lines mould the body in one step. Cavity count sets the output. A filler cares about neck finish, wall thickness, brimful volume and a cap that threads on without weeping. One drifting gram of resin adds up across a million bottles.

Software for rigid packaging makers keeps the container specification, the resin lots and the moulds in one record. Planners see each injection and blow machine as its own queue, with the mould fitted and the cavities live. Quality staff see which lot a fit test belongs to. Sales staff see what was quoted. Nobody walks the floor to ask. The answers are on screen.

How the work runs today

A beverage or cosmetics filler sends a container drawing with brimful volume, neck finish, weight and colour, plus a closure specification. The planner books the order on an injection machine for preforms or on a stretch blow machine, and the store issues resin from the desiccant dryer by lot. The mould is fitted with its cavity count, and the setter records the first-off sample against the drawing. Cycle time and shot weight are logged through the shift, so drift is caught early.

Bottles and caps are decorated if the order asks for it, with screen printing, pressure-sensitive labels or shrink sleeves. Quality staff check weight, wall thickness, top-load strength, removal torque on the cap and a pressure decay leak test on a sample. Flash, short shots, black specks and burn marks are counted against the cavity that made them, and the supervisor who signs the batch sheet reads the totals at handover. Containers are packed in cartons or bulk bags on pallets, and the packing list carries the lot number, the count per carton and the cartons per tier.

Where it breaks

What goes wrong for rigid packaging manufacturers without a proper system.

Cavities are not tracked

A sixteen cavity mould makes sixteen slightly different bottles. When cavity nine runs light, its bottles are mixed with the rest on the conveyor and nobody can pick them out. The whole lot becomes suspect.

Resin lots mix on the machine

Dryer hoppers are topped up with whatever lot is next to the vacuum loader. A change in intrinsic viscosity or melt flow shows up in a bottle, but the lot behind it was never recorded. Blame follows fast.

Fit tests sit apart from the batch

A neck finish and a cap thread are gauged together at the bench, and the reading goes on a sheet filed by date and not by batch. When a weeping cap halts the filler’s capping line, nobody can find the gauge result that belongs to it. Stops are costly.

Mould maintenance is by memory

Moulds go back to the toolroom when someone remembers. Shot counts are kept nowhere, so wear on the hot runner tips and the parting line is judged by the flash on the part. The call comes late.

Packing patterns change by filler

Count per carton, cartons per tier and tiers per pallet differ for every customer, down to the slip sheet and the stretch hood. Wrong patterns surface at the dock. The truck waits.

What the software does

What we would build for rigid packaging manufacturers.

Named the way your team already talks about the work. We start with whichever part the audit shows is costing you most.

Container specification library

Hold brimful volume, neck finish, weight, wall thickness, colour and closure pairing for each filler’s container.

Resin, masterbatch and preform stock

Resin and masterbatch come in with lot number and dryer dew point record, and each lot stays tied to the presses and batches that consumed it, regrind included.

Moulding and blow machine planning

Book orders on injection and stretch blow machines with the mould, cavity count and changeover shown on the board.

Mould and cavity register

Track each mould with shot counts, blocked cavities, repairs and its rack in the toolroom.

Weight, top-load and leak records

Enter weight, wall thickness, top-load, removal torque and pressure decay results against the batch, and hold a failing lot.

Carton and pallet patterns

Set count per carton, cartons per tier and tiers per pallet by filler, and print labels and packing lists that follow them.

How it works

How the work runs from Bengaluru for your city.

  1. 1

    The audit, by call

A screen-share and a look at the sheets, accounting reports and WhatsApp groups your team uses. No travel needed.

  2. 2

    A written proposal

Scope, what we build first and the cost, agreed in writing before anything starts.

  3. 3

    Build in short rounds

Working screens shared every few weeks. Your team tests them from your own office.

  4. 4

Go-live, in person when it helps

For data migration and training we can come to your city. Travel is agreed in advance.

  5. 5

    Support online

Fixes, changes and hosting handled remotely by the same team that built it.

Common questions

Questions rigid packaging manufacturers ask before they call.

Can a bottle batch be traced to the resin lot behind it?

Yes. Each machine run records the resin and masterbatch lots drawn from the dryer. A batch opens to those lots, the mould and the cavities that were live, so a complaint about colour streaks has a starting point.

Does it follow shots per mould?

Shot counts are added from each run, and the register flags a mould that is due for service at the limit your toolroom sets. Blocked cavities are marked too, so the planner sees the real output per cycle.

Can caps and bottles be managed as a pair?

Yes. A container specification points to its closure, and the fit test is entered against both batches. A bottle and cap pair that fails is held together until quality decides.

How would our container drawings be brought in?

Volumes, neck finishes, weights and closure pairings are typed in or lifted from your drawing list, and sales and the lab then check them. We run sample bottle and cap orders on screen before any costing is drawn up.

What happens after I share my requirements?

An engineer reads what you send and replies within one business day. We then look at the software, spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups your business runs on today and write down what works, what slows your team down and what is missing. A demo login, a screen-share or a few screenshots are enough. You get a short written summary ordered by priority, with no obligation to hire us afterwards.

How much will the software cost?

We don’t publish a price, because it depends on what the system has to do. That first review settles the scope, and the cost goes into a written proposal before any work starts.
