Manufacturing · Software for orthotics manufacturers

Keep every prescription, scan, material lot and fitting check on one record per device.

Orthotics software for manufacturers holds each custom device as one order, from clinic prescription to delivery. The record carries the scan or cast, the design file, the materials used and the finishing steps. Clinics see where devices stand. Remakes and adjustments are logged against the original order, so a repeat fit is traced in one search.

At a glance

An orthotics manufacturer makes devices to a clinician’s prescription. Foot orthoses, braces, splints and supports are each made for one person, from a scan, a cast or a set of measurements. Volume is steady, but every piece is different.

Most of that detail sits in emailed prescriptions, shared folders of scan files and a whiteboard in the workshop. The software joins them. A first conversation follows one device from the first prescription to the clinic’s invoice.

How the work runs today

Clinics, podiatrists and orthotists send prescriptions with a foot scan, a foam impression or a plaster cast, and a technician checks every detail against the order before anything is made. A designer shapes the model on screen. Then the order moves to milling, printing, vacuum forming or hand lamination, using materials cut from sheet stock: polypropylene, EVA, cork, carbon fibre and top covers in several finishes.

Finishing follows. Grinding, strapping, covering, then a final check against the prescription. The device is packed with its patient reference and sent to the clinic. Some come back for adjustment, and others are remade after a change of size or a clinical review, which means the workshop needs the original order in front of it. The office invoices each clinic monthly and answers calls about where a device is.

Where it breaks

What goes wrong for orthotics manufacturers without a proper system.

Prescriptions arrive in many forms

Email attachments, portal uploads and photographs of paper forms each carry an order. The workshop retypes them, and a missing detail is found only at the bench.

Scan and design files drift from the order

A scan sits in one folder, the edited model in another, and the version milled in a third. Which file made this device? Nobody can say.

Material use is guessed per device

Sheet stock, top covers and straps leave the shelf without a record against the order, so the cost of each device is estimated and reordering waits for an empty shelf. Stock runs out.

Remakes are hard to trace

A device returns for a fix and is remade. The reason, the original materials and the extra labour are rarely written down in one place.

Clinic accounts are managed by hand

Every clinic has its own price list, its own patients and its own monthly statement, which someone assembles from delivery notes and emails when the month closes. One disputed device holds up the whole invoice.

What the software does

What we would build for orthotics manufacturers.

Named the way your team already talks about the work. We start with whichever part the audit shows is costing you most.

Clinic accounts and price lists

Keep each clinic and its practitioners as accounts, with their own prices per device type and their delivery details.

Prescription orders

Capture each prescription as an order with the patient reference, device type, side, size and clinical notes. Scans and casts attach to the same record.

Design files and revisions

Keep the scan, the edited model and the approved version with each order, so the file that was milled can always be found.

Production work orders

Issue a work order for each device, with its stages from design to finishing, and mark each stage as the bench completes it.

Material stock and issue

Sheet stock, top covers, straps and adhesives are booked in, issued against an order and returned, and the common materials carry reorder levels.

Fitting checks, remakes and returns

Note the final check against the prescription. Log adjustments and remakes against the original order, with the reason and the extra material used.

Dispatch, invoices and statements

Pack and dispatch devices, raise invoices per clinic, and send monthly statements with the oldest balance first.

How it works

How the work runs from Bengaluru for your city.

  1. 1

    The audit, by call

A screen-share and a look at the sheets, Tally reports and WhatsApp groups your team uses. No travel needed.

  2. 2

    A written proposal

Scope, what we build first and the cost, agreed in writing before anything starts.

  3. 3

    Build in short rounds

Working screens shared every few weeks. Your team tests them from your own office.

  4. 4

Go-live, in person when it helps

For data migration and training we can come to your city. Travel is agreed in advance.

  5. 5

    Support online

Fixes, changes and hosting handled remotely by the same team that built it.

Common questions

Questions orthotics manufacturers ask before they call.

Can scan and design files be kept with the order?

Yes. Scans, casts, photographs and design files attach to the prescription order. Each revision is kept, so the version sent to the machine is on record.

Does it handle one-off custom devices and repeat stock items?

Yes. A custom device runs as an order with its own file and materials. Standard supports are made to a stock level. Both appear in the same production plan.

Can clinics place and track their own orders?

Yes. A clinic logs in to send a prescription and see the status of its patients’ devices. What a clinic sees, and which prices it is shown, is set with you.

How is patient information treated?

Orders carry a patient reference and only the clinical details you choose to hold. Who can see them is set by role. Your privacy obligations are reviewed during implementation.

What happens in the free technology audit?

We look at the software, spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups your business runs on today and write down what works, what slows your team down and what is missing. A demo login, a screen-share or a few screenshots are enough to start. You get a report ordered by priority, and there is no obligation to hire us afterwards.

How much will the software cost?

We don’t publish a price, because it depends on what the system has to do. The audit settles the scope, and the cost goes into a written proposal before any work starts.
