Manufacturing · Software for seal and O-ring manufacturers

Keep every O-ring size, compound and cure date on record against its shelf life.

Seal and O-ring manufacturers mould thousands of sizes in nitrile, fluorocarbon, silicone and other compounds, plus lip seals, wipers and hydraulic seals. The seal and O-ring manufacturer software holds size and compound masters, mould cavity records, cure dates, shelf-life rules and hardness results against each lot. Seal kits are built from the catalogue, and bags carry lot, size and cure date.

At a glance

A seal plant makes small parts in very large variety. An O-ring is described by inside diameter, cross-section and compound, while a rotary lip seal has a metal case, a spring and a rubber lip. A hydraulic seal set has a rod seal, a wiper and a wear ring, and customers range from machine builders to distributors with thousands of sizes on shelves. Variety is the whole difficulty.

Rubber ages. Old stock is a liability. Software for seal makers therefore treats cure date and shelf life as part of the product record. Planners see which sizes are low and which compounds are due for mixing, while quality staff see hardness and compression set by lot before anything is bagged. Dispatch sees the lot and cure date to print on each bag, so the label a customer reads matches the batch that left the press room.

How the work runs today

A distributor or a machine builder orders by catalogue size, compound and colour, often in hundreds of lines on one order. Standard sizes come from stock. Missing sizes are put on a moulding plan, which groups orders by compound so a mixed batch is used while it is fresh. Moulds hold many cavities, and one tool may serve several neighbouring sizes, so the planner must know which insert sits in which press this week. Most lines ship from shelf.

Compound is mixed and tested for hardness and cure curve, then presses mould the rings and operators remove flash by running parts through a trimmer or a deflashing machine. Cord-spliced rings are cut and joined for sizes with no mould, and lip seals have metal cases bonded or assembled with springs in their own cell. Samples go for hardness, compression set and dimension checks. Parts are packed in labelled bags, counted by weight or by hand, and stamped with lot and cure date. Nothing leaves without a date.

Where it breaks

What goes wrong for seal and O-ring manufacturers without a proper system.

Shelf life is not tracked

Rubber parts have a recommended storage period counted from cure, yet stock sits undated in drawers, and an old bag reaches a customer who needs fresh seals. Nobody checks the drawer.

Size catalogues are huge

Thousands of sizes, each with several compounds and colours, are maintained in sheets, so price and stock lists drift apart and nobody trusts either.

Mould cavities serve many sizes

A tool made for one size is sometimes used with inserts for neighbouring ones. The register of which mould makes what is kept by one toolmaker, and leaves with him.

Compound identity is lost in the bag

Nitrile, fluorocarbon and silicone rings look similar once bagged, and a bag without a clear label is a risk to a hydraulic system.

Seal kits are assembled from memory

A repair kit for a cylinder includes a rod seal, a piston seal, a wiper and a few O-rings. The pack list sits in the packer’s head. One slip ruins a repair.

What the software does

What we would build for seal and O-ring manufacturers.

Named the way your team already talks about the work. We start with whichever part the audit shows is costing you most.

Size and compound catalogue

Hold every O-ring and seal by inside diameter, cross-section, profile and compound, with colour, hardness and price per size.

Cure date and shelf-life rules

Record cure date for each lot, apply the shelf period set for its compound, and warn when stock approaches expiry.

Mould and cavity register

List which mould and inserts make each size, with cavity count, shot history and repair dates.

Compound lots with test results

Record mixes with hardness, cure curve and compression set, and link each moulded lot to its mix.

Cord-splice and lip seal assembly

Track spliced rings, metal case lots, spring lots and assembly checks for seals that are not simply moulded.

Kits from the catalogue

Define seal kits for common cylinders and pumps, build them from stock and tick each part into the pack.

Lot labels and delivery

Bag labels carry size, compound, lot and cure date, and a certificate rides along with the delivery.

How it works

How the work runs from Bengaluru for your city.

  1. 1

    The audit, by call

A screen-share and a look at the sheets, accounting reports and WhatsApp groups your team uses. No travel needed.

  2. 2

    A written proposal

Scope, what we build first and the cost, agreed in writing before anything starts.

  3. 3

    Build in short rounds

Working screens shared every few weeks. Your team tests them from your own office.

  4. 4

Go-live, in person when it helps

For data migration and training we can come to your city. Travel is agreed in advance.

  5. 5

    Support online

Fixes, changes and hosting handled remotely by the same team that built it.

Common questions

Questions seal and O-ring manufacturers ask before they call.

Can it warn when a lot is nearing its shelf life?

Yes. Each compound carries a storage period you set, counted from the cure date of the lot, and the stock list shows what is approaching the end. Sales staff can offer such lots first or remove them.

Can it handle thousands of sizes?

Yes. Sizes are held as a catalogue with compound and colour variants, and can be loaded in bulk from your sheets. Search works by inside diameter, cross-section or your own size code, so a counter clerk finds a ring while the customer waits on the phone.

Can the same mould serve several sizes?

Yes. The register lists the sizes each mould and insert make, so the planner can group orders and see which tool is free.

How do we start with our size lists and stock?

Your sheets of sizes, compounds, prices and stock are imported and read back to the stores and moulding leads. Send a few of your awkward size lists, and sample O-ring and kit orders are run on screen so you can judge the fit before deciding.

What happens after I share my requirements?

An engineer reads what you send and replies within one business day. We then look at the software, spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups your business runs on today and write down what works, what slows your team down and what is missing. A demo login, a screen-share or a few screenshots are enough. You get a short written summary ordered by priority, with no obligation to hire us afterwards.

How much will the software cost?

We don’t publish a price, because it depends on what the system has to do. That first review settles the scope, and the cost goes into a written proposal before any work starts.
