Manufacturing · Software for industrial electronics manufacturers

Keep board revisions, firmware builds and burn-in results tied to every drive and controller shipped.

Industrial electronics makers build drives, controllers, power supplies and HMI units in small runs for plants that keep them for a decade. The software holds each product’s board revision, firmware build, test result and serial number together. A repair return opens the same record the unit was built from, so support never guesses what is inside. Engineers see the same card.

At a glance

Industrial electronics is low volume and long life. A motor drive or a PLC module built this quarter may still be running in a plant ten years from now. The buyer expects spares, firmware fixes and a repair when it fails. That promise is the real product.

Software for this trade therefore ties the unit to its history, from the reel of components that went in to the repair slip that came back years later. It records which board revision went in, which firmware was loaded, what the burn-in showed and who bought it. Short and exact. Tell us which product family is hardest to trace today, and that family becomes the first one built, reel to repair slip.

How the work runs today

Most output is built to order. An OEM asks for fifty motor drives, a panel builder asks for twenty I/O modules, and a distributor wants a power supply under its own label. Against each bill of materials, buyers order microcontrollers, electrolytic capacitors, connectors and extruded enclosures, and several of those parts take months to arrive. Some are going end of life, and the planners who must work around that rarely hear of it in time to act.

Boards are assembled in house or by a contract assembler, then fitted into a housing with a heatsink, a connector set and a front label. Firmware is flashed. The unit goes through a functional test and a burn-in chamber run, and an engineer signs the result before the batch is released to packing. Units ship with a serial number and a test report. Then the waiting starts. Returns for repair come back months or years later.

Where it breaks

What goes wrong for industrial electronics manufacturers without a proper system.

Board and firmware revisions are not linked to serial numbers

A drive leaves with one board layout and one firmware build, picked from several that were current while the order was open. When a customer reports a fault, support has to work out which pair shipped. Spreadsheets of serial numbers rarely carry both. Guessing is slow.

End-of-life parts are found late

A microcontroller or a voltage regulator is withdrawn by its maker, and purchasing hears of it from a distributor. Nobody can say quickly which products, stock lots and open orders use the part without opening every bill of materials by hand. A last-time buy becomes a guess.

Burn-in and functional test data sit on the test bench

Test jigs write results to a local file or a printout, so the output voltage and thermal run of one serial number sit on the bench computer. A clean pass is hard to show. Customers ask anyway.

Engineering changes reach the floor unevenly

A changed resistor value or a layout fix is announced by email, but some assembly kits still carry the old part because the store picked them last week. A few units are built to the wrong revision before anyone notices. Rework follows.

Repairs and warranty claims have no home

A returned unit arrives with a note and little else. The fault found, the board swapped and the firmware reflashed are written on a slip, so the customer is told one thing while the build record shows another.

What the software does

What we would build for industrial electronics manufacturers.

Named the way your team already talks about the work. We start with whichever part the audit shows is costing you most.

Product families and board revisions

Hold each drive, controller or power supply as a family with its board layouts, housing variants and current revision. Every engineering change gets an effective date and a reason. Old layouts stay readable.

Bill of materials with alternates

List every component with reference designators, quantities and approved alternate makers. A second-source capacitor is chosen once, then offered to purchasing and to the kitting store. No emails.

Assembly and test orders

Release a build order with its kit, board lot and test plan, and log reflow, flashing, functional test and burn-in with the jig and the person recorded. Each step is stamped as it happens.

Serial numbers and firmware builds

Give every unit a serial number and record the firmware version loaded at the programming station. A search by serial shows the board lot, the test result and the customer.

Component stock and end-of-life watch

Track reels, trays and moisture-sensitive parts by lot and bake status. Mark a part as end of life, and see every product, stock quantity and open order that depends on it.

Repairs and returns

Book a returned unit against its serial number, record the fault and the parts replaced, and note the firmware flashed. Repair cost and warranty status sit on the same card.

Quotations and OEM orders

Quote from a product price list with quantity breaks, lead time and any customisation of labels or firmware, and let accepted quotes become orders with schedule lines.

How it works

How the work runs from Bengaluru for your city.

  1. 1

    The audit, by call

A screen-share and a look at the sheets, accounting reports and WhatsApp groups your team uses. No travel needed.

  2. 2

    A written proposal

Scope, what we build first and the cost, agreed in writing before anything starts.

  3. 3

    Build in short rounds

Working screens shared every few weeks. Your team tests them from your own office.

  4. 4

Go-live, in person when it helps

For data migration and training we can come to your city. Travel is agreed in advance.

  5. 5

    Support online

Fixes, changes and hosting handled remotely by the same team that built it.

Common questions

Questions industrial electronics manufacturers ask before they call.

Can one record hold both the board revision and the firmware build?

Yes. Each serial number is stored with the board layout, the housing and the firmware version loaded at the test station. Support opens that one card when a customer rings about a fault. One search, one answer.

How does it help with parts that are going out of production?

Mark the part as end of life and the system lists every product, stock lot and open purchase order that uses it. Your engineers then decide between a last-time buy and an alternate.

Do we have to give up the test software on our benches?

No. Bench programs keep running. Their pass or fail result and a measurement file are attached to the serial number, either by an import or by an operator at the station.

What decides the cost, and when does something become visible?

One product family goes in first, so you can judge it against real boards. The quotation comes afterwards on paper and reflects user seats, the number of locations and the volume of older records brought across.

What happens after I share my requirements?

An engineer reads what you send and replies within one business day. We then look at the software, spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups your business runs on today and write down what works, what slows your team down and what is missing. A demo login, a screen-share or a few screenshots are enough. You get a short written summary ordered by priority, with no obligation to hire us afterwards.

How much will the software cost?

We don’t publish a price, because it depends on what the system has to do. That first review settles the scope, and the cost goes into a written proposal before any work starts.
