Manufacturing · Software for roll forming companies

Run each coil through the right profile, length and punch pattern, and prove it on record.

Roll forming bends coil into a profile through a train of roll stations and cuts it to length. The software keeps coil lots, roll tooling, line settings and cut lists on one job. Bow, twist and length drift are traced to the coil and the setup that produced them, so the next run starts from known settings. Bundles ship labelled.

At a glance

A roll former takes slit coil of galvanised, painted or plain steel and runs it through a series of roll stands. A flying cut-off or a press shears each piece to length, and a punch unit can add holes or notches. Output is channels, purlins, roofing sheet, door frames and racking uprights, each in the gauge and coating the customer ordered. Tolerances are tight.

Roll forming software starts with the coil and ends with the bundle. Roll sets, line speed, cut lengths and scrap are recorded for each run. Nothing is retyped. Send a sample job card and we start from it.

How the work runs today

Orders arrive as a profile code, a gauge, a colour or coating and a cut list of lengths and quantities. The planner groups orders by coil and profile to avoid changeovers, since swapping roll sets takes the line out of production. Coil comes in from a mill or a slitter with a certificate for thickness, yield strength and coating weight, and each coil is weighed and tagged.

At the line, the setter fits the roll set, threads the coil and runs trial pieces. Length, flange width, bow and twist are measured against the drawing before the run starts. Pieces come off the run-out table and are counted into bundles that are strapped, labelled with profile and length, and stacked on the dispatch bay. Counts matter. Offcuts and coil ends are weighed as scrap. Any coil left over returns to the rack with its remaining weight.

Where it breaks

What goes wrong for roll forming companies without a proper system.

Changeovers eat the shift

Orders run in the sequence they arrived, whatever their gauge or coating, so the line changes roll sets four times in a shift when a grouped plan would have needed two. Time is lost.

Coil is traced by a paper tag

The tag falls off, or the weight is altered by hand as the coil is used. When a bundle fails a coating test, nobody can link it to the coil, the mill certificate or the paint batch.

Cut lists are re-keyed

A cut list arrives by email and is typed into a line controller by whoever is free. One wrong length turns a whole bundle into scrap.

Scrap is not reconciled

Nobody sets coil weight in against finished weight and offcuts for each job, so yield by profile stays a guess. The month-end figure helps nobody. Offcuts from a punched profile weigh differently from plain lengths, and without the job record the loss cannot be placed against any one run or setter.

Roll sets have no history

Wear, regrinding and shim changes on each roll stand are known to one setter. The next shift starts without them.

What the software does

What we would build for roll forming companies.

Named the way your team already talks about the work. We start with whichever part the audit shows is costing you most.

Coil receipt and stock

Record coil by gauge, width, coating and mill certificate, weigh each coil and show the remaining weight after every run.

Profile and roll set library

Hold each profile with its roll set, shim settings, punch tooling and tolerance, and keep wear and regrind history by stand.

Cut list and order planning

Group orders by coil and profile to cut changeovers, and send the cut list with lengths and counts to the line.

Line run log

Record line speed, setter, first-off approval and bundle count against each coil and order.

Bundle labelling and dispatch

Bundles are labelled with profile, gauge, length and count, loaded by order, and invoiced from what left the gate.

Scrap and yield

Weigh offcuts and coil ends, and compare coil weight with finished weight for each profile.

Quality checks

Capture length, flange width, bow, twist and coating checks at first-off and at intervals, and hold bundles that fail.

How it works

How the work runs from Bengaluru for your city.

  1. 1

    The audit, by call

A screen-share and a look at the sheets, accounting reports and WhatsApp groups your team uses. No travel needed.

  2. 2

    A written proposal

Scope, what we build first and the cost, agreed in writing before anything starts.

  3. 3

    Build in short rounds

Working screens shared every few weeks. Your team tests them from your own office.

  4. 4

Go-live, in person when it helps

For data migration and training we can come to your city. Travel is agreed in advance.

  5. 5

    Support online

Fixes, changes and hosting handled remotely by the same team that built it.

Common questions

Questions roll forming companies ask before they call.

Does it handle both slit coil and full width coil?

Yes. Coil is recorded by width and gauge, whether it is bought slit or slit in house, and the remaining weight is kept after each run.

Can the cut list go to the line?

A cut list prints on paper or leaves as a file that the line controller reads. The file format is confirmed during implementation.

How are changeovers planned?

Open orders are grouped by profile, gauge and coating so similar runs follow each other. The planner can still override the order.

Can it track roll tooling?

Yes. Each roll set has a record with its profile, number of metres run and regrind history.

What happens after I share my requirements?

An engineer reads what you send and replies within one business day. We then look at the software, spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups your business runs on today and write down what works, what slows your team down and what is missing. A demo login, a screen-share or a few screenshots are enough. You get a short written summary ordered by priority, with no obligation to hire us afterwards.

How much will the software cost?

We don’t publish a price, because it depends on what the system has to do. That first review settles the scope, and the cost goes into a written proposal before any work starts.
