Manufacturing · Software for transformer manufacturers

Track every core lot, winding and loss test from tender to nameplate.

Software for transformer manufacturers. It prices tenders on rating and loss limits and tracks core steel and winding wire. Each unit is followed through drying, tanking and test, then ships with a plate, a test report and a warranty record.

At a glance

A transformer order starts as a tender with a kVA rating, voltage ratio, vector group, impedance and loss limits. You price core steel, winding copper or aluminium, insulation, oil and tank, then commit to no-load and load loss figures that the customer can penalise. The design sheet comes next. It fixes core dimensions, turns per coil and the tap range, and the shop cuts every lamination and orders the oil from it.

Silicon steel coils are slit and cut into laminations, stacked into the core, and wound coils are fitted over the limbs. The active part is dried, lowered into the tank, filled with oil and fitted with bushings, tap changer and radiators. Routine tests follow. A buyer’s inspector may attend. A unit above its quoted loss is a financial problem, not just a technical one.

How the work runs today

The design office releases a sheet while the core shop is cutting from a steel coil that has not been weighed in. The winding section is short by two reels of strip, and nobody has raised the purchase order. Three units sit on the bench. The inspector cannot come before Thursday.

Meanwhile a utility buyer asks for the loss report of a unit shipped last year. One engineer remembers it was on the bay computer. Finding the file is another matter. It takes an hour. Sometimes more.

Where it breaks

What goes wrong for transformer manufacturers without a proper system.

Loss limits are quoted, then forgotten

The tender commits to no-load and load loss limits, but the bay works from the design sheet alone. A unit passes routine tests and still sits above the figure quoted to the buyer. The penalty arrives with the invoice.

Core steel is not traced to a unit

Silicon steel coils arrive by lot and weight, get slit and cut, and the offcut is counted by eye. Months later, a unit with high core loss cannot be tied to the coil it came from.

Winding wire runs out mid-order

Copper strip, round wire and insulating paper are drawn from open reels with no booking per unit. A section stops when a reel ends. Nobody saw it coming, and the unit loses its place on the bay.

Test readings are copied between sheets

Ratio, vector group, winding resistance, no-load loss and impedance are written on a bench sheet, retyped into a report and typed again onto the plate. A transposed digit survives all three.

Inspection calls are booked by phone

Utility and third-party inspectors are asked to attend by telephone, and the date lives in someone’s diary. Finished units wait in the yard, tanks filled and bushings fitted, for a visit nobody confirmed.

What the software does

What we would build for transformer manufacturers.

Named the way your team already talks about the work. We start with whichever part the audit shows is costing you most.

Tender and loss commitments

Price a unit from steel, copper, oil and tank, and keep the no-load and load loss limits quoted to the buyer beside the order.

Design sheets and revisions

Hold the core, coil and tap data per unit, with each revision released to the shop.

Core steel and winding wire stock

Receive steel coils and wire reels by lot and weight, and book consumption to each unit.

Core and coil build stages

Follow every unit through lamination cutting, stacking, winding, assembly, drying and tanking.

Routine and type tests

Enter ratio, winding resistance, loss and impedance readings and compare them with the limits quoted at tender.

Inspection bookings

Schedule buyer and third-party inspectors against finished units and record the outcome.

Dispatch and warranty record

Issue plates, test reports and packing lists, then log service history by unit serial.

How it works

How the work runs from Bengaluru for your city.

  1. 1

    The audit, by call

A screen-share and a look at the sheets, accounting reports and WhatsApp groups your team uses. No travel needed.

  2. 2

    A written proposal

Scope, what we build first and the cost, agreed in writing before anything starts.

  3. 3

    Build in short rounds

Working screens shared every few weeks. Your team tests them from your own office.

  4. 4

Go-live, in person when it helps

For data migration and training we can come to your city. Travel is agreed in advance.

  5. 5

    Support online

Fixes, changes and hosting handled remotely by the same team that built it.

Common questions

Questions transformer manufacturers ask before they call.

Can a unit be flagged when measured losses exceed the tender figure?

Yes. The tender stores the quoted loss limits. The test bay enters measured values beside them, and any unit above a limit is flagged before it leaves the yard, so the commercial team can decide what to do.

How is silicon steel tracked from coil to unit?

Coils are received by lot and weight. Cutting books steel to each core, offcut included, and the coil lot then appears on the unit record beside the serial number.

Does the software hold type test certificates?

Type and special test reports can be attached to the design family and to individual units. The tests that apply to each rating are chosen by your design and quality engineers.

How do we try it before deciding?

Ask for a session built around one of your own recent orders. Cost is put in writing after we know the team size and the modules you want.

What happens after I share my requirements?

An engineer reads what you send and replies within one business day. We then look at the software, spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups your business runs on today and write down what works, what slows your team down and what is missing. A demo login, a screen-share or a few screenshots are enough. You get a short written summary ordered by priority, with no obligation to hire us afterwards.

How much will the software cost?

We don’t publish a price, because it depends on what the system has to do. That first review settles the scope, and the cost goes into a written proposal before any work starts.
