Manufacturing · Software for orthopaedic implant manufacturers

Follow each plate, screw and stem from bar stock to laser mark and sterile pack.

Orthopaedic implant makers machine Ti-6Al-4V titanium, cobalt chrome and 316LVM stainless bar into plates, screws, intramedullary nails and femoral stems, then polish, passivate, mark, clean and pack them. The software holds mill certificate, heat number, machining lot, finishing and sterilisation on one traceable record per implant lot.

At a glance

An implant leaves the factory with a name that matters later: the size, the alloy, the lot and a laser-marked code. A surgeon, a hospital store and a regulator may all ask where that exact plate or screw came from, and the factory must answer from records made on the day.

The path is long, and no single desk sees all of it. Titanium and cobalt chrome bar comes in with its mill paper. Swiss-type turning, milling and drilling follow, then deburring, polishing, anodising or passivation, ultrasonic cleaning, laser marking, inspection and pouch sealing. Each step may sit in a different cell or with an outside vendor.

How the work runs today

Orders arrive as implant sets for a hospital or distributor: a range of locking plate lengths, cortical and cancellous screws, tibial nails or femoral stems, with instrument trays to match. Planners check bar by heat number and grade, then release lot cards to the turning and milling cells. Operators run first-off checks on thread form and bore diameter. Inspection then logs values taken on a coordinate measuring machine and an optical comparator, which the quality head reviews before the lot moves to finishing.

Parts then go for polishing, passivation or anodising, sometimes at an outside processor. After ultrasonic cleaning in a controlled area, each implant is laser marked with size and lot. Sealing happens in a clean zone. Pouches then go for sterilisation. Sales staff need to know what is on the shelf in each size. Sets are assembled for hospital loan stock, then followed until the tray comes back with every plate and screw counted.

Where it breaks

What goes wrong for orthopaedic implant manufacturers without a proper system.

Heat numbers separate from lots

A mill certificate is filed by supplier, while the machined lot only mentions the bar by diameter. The tie is a note. Notes get lost.

Critical dimensions are checked in many places

Thread pitch, screw hole spacing, plate thickness and surface finish are measured on different machines, and results sit in different files.

Outside finishing breaks the chain

Parts sent for polishing, passivation or anodising return mixed, and the lot link depends on a delivery note.

Laser marking needs the right code

A wrong size etched on a plate means scrap. Marking cannot be undone.

Loan sets are hard to follow

Hospitals hold trays of plates and screws on consignment, and the factory cannot say which implants are out and which came back.

What the software does

What we would build for orthopaedic implant manufacturers.

Named the way your team already talks about the work. We start with whichever part the audit shows is costing you most.

Material certificates and heat numbers

Receive bar by grade, heat number and certificate. Hold it until the incoming check is signed, and let a lot draw only from released bar.

Lot cards and routings

Release implant lots to turning, milling and drilling cells with the drawing revision and the operation list.

Inspection records

Key in the first piece and mid-run readings for threads, bores and wall thickness, each checked against the drawing. Each reading names the gauge used and the inspector who signed it.

Outside finishing

Send parts for polishing, passivation or anodising and receive them back by lot and quantity.

Laser marking and cleaning

Control the code, size and lot marked on each implant, and record the ultrasonic cleaning step before sealing.

Sets, trays and sterile stock

Build implant sets, track loan trays and hold sterile pouches by lot and expiry.

How it works

How the work runs from Bengaluru for your city.

  1. 1

    The audit, by call

A screen-share and a look at the sheets, accounting reports and WhatsApp groups your team uses. No travel needed.

  2. 2

    A written proposal

Scope, what we build first and the cost, agreed in writing before anything starts.

  3. 3

    Build in short rounds

Working screens shared every few weeks. Your team tests them from your own office.

  4. 4

Go-live, in person when it helps

For data migration and training we can come to your city. Travel is agreed in advance.

  5. 5

    Support online

Fixes, changes and hosting handled remotely by the same team that built it.

Common questions

Questions orthopaedic implant manufacturers ask before they call.

Can a finished plate be traced to its bar?

Yes. Receiving stores the heat number and certificate against the bar, and every Swiss-type turning lot names the bar lengths it was cut from.

How are outside processors handled?

Parts are sent against a lot with quantities, and what returns is checked in. Rejects at the anodiser or polisher are noted on the same lot.

Can we manage loan sets?

Yes. Trays are listed with their contents, issued to a hospital, and returned or replaced, so open sets are visible.

Does the software give us product approval?

No. Quality and regulatory staff of your company set the records and checks, and approvals come from the proper bodies.

What happens after I share my requirements?

An engineer reads what you send and replies within one business day. We then look at the software, spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups your business runs on today and write down what works, what slows your team down and what is missing. A demo login, a screen-share or a few screenshots are enough. You get a short written summary ordered by priority, with no obligation to hire us afterwards.

How much will the software cost?

We don’t publish a price, because it depends on what the system has to do. That first review settles the scope, and the cost goes into a written proposal before any work starts.
