Manufacturing · Software for electronic manufacturing services providers

Run each customer’s product from new-product introduction to box build and shipment.

Contract electronics builders assemble for several brands at once, from SMT boards and cable harnesses to enclosures and complete box builds. The software holds each customer’s bill of materials, ECO history, rolling forecast, reel stock, build lots, serial numbers and fixture results. Shipments and RMA returns stay on the same customer record.

At a glance

An EMS provider builds other companies’ products. Each customer brings its own BOM, its own forecast and its own idea of a good test report. One customer’s engineering change order (ECO) must never reach the SMT line that is building for another.

Management software for contract electronics keeps every customer’s product, revision and forecast apart while the floor runs shared pick-and-place lines. A first session traces one product from its ECO to the serial-numbered unit on a pallet, and it marks the step where today’s record breaks.

How the work runs today

A new customer’s first order lands together with Gerber files and a bill of materials. Engineering runs a design-for-manufacturability review and plans a pilot build. Purchasing quotes components and flags long-lead or single-source parts, such as a specific FPGA or a custom transformer. A rolling forecast follows. Then firm purchase orders arrive.

Production prints solder paste, places components, reflows boards, wires harnesses and integrates the result into an enclosure with a display, a power supply and a rating label. Firmware is flashed. Each unit passes an in-circuit or functional fixture and receives a serial number. When a customer swaps a part, the change must reach purchasing, the component store and the line on the same day, or the wrong connector ends up in a hundred units. Finished goods ship by customer. RMA returns come back later.

Where it breaks

What goes wrong for electronic manufacturing services providers without a proper system.

Engineering changes reach the line late

A customer replaces a board-to-board connector. Purchasing orders the new one, the component store keeps the old reels, and the SMT operator loads whichever feeder is nearest. The line is left to guess.

Forecasts move and components do not

A customer cuts its forecast after reels are bought, and the leftover capacitors and microcontrollers belong to nobody until someone digs through old emails for the clause on excess material. Nobody owns them.

One shared stores holds many customers’ parts

Consigned and purchased components of different brands sit on the same racking, and moisture-sensitive bags are opened without a floor-life record. A shortage on one product is covered from another’s reels without a note.

Serial numbers and test records live in separate places

The fixture saves results on a PC in the test bay, the serial label comes from a different printer, and neither knows the other. A returned unit cannot be matched to its firmware version or its test log.

Each customer wants a different report

One customer asks for a certificate of conformance, another for traceability to reel level, a third for a monthly first-pass yield by product. Clerks assemble each by hand from three spreadsheets.

What the software does

What we would build for electronic manufacturing services providers.

Named the way your team already talks about the work. We start with whichever part the audit shows is costing you most.

Customer product and revision master

Hold each customer’s products with BOM, assembly drawings, Gerber package and revision, kept apart by customer.

Engineering change control

Record each ECO with the affected reference designators, the effective date and the sign-off, and show it to purchasing, the component store and the SMT line.

Forecasts and purchase orders

Hold the customer’s rolling forecast and firm orders, and compare them with components on order, in stock and on consigned reels.

Component sourcing and shortages

Track quotations from distributors, lead times and approved alternates, with shortage lists by product and by build date.

Build lots and serial numbers

Open a lot per build, give each board or box a serial number and link it to reel lots, solder paste batch and operator.

Test and programming records

Save the firmware version flashed and the in-circuit or functional fixture result for every serial number.

Shipments and returns

Packing follows the customer’s order with the certificate of conformance attached, and every RMA unit is logged against the fault found on test.

Each one is also available on its own, or inside a system built for you.

How it works

How the work runs from Bengaluru for your city.

  1. 1

    The audit, by call

A screen-share and a look at the sheets, accounting reports and WhatsApp groups your team uses. No travel needed.

  2. 2

    A written proposal

Scope, what we build first and the cost, agreed in writing before anything starts.

  3. 3

    Build in short rounds

Working screens shared every few weeks. Your team tests them from your own office.

  4. 4

Go-live, in person when it helps

For data migration and training we can come to your city. Travel is agreed in advance.

  5. 5

    Support online

Fixes, changes and hosting handled remotely by the same team that built it.

Common questions

Questions electronic manufacturing services providers ask before they call.

Can two customers share a line without mixing records?

Yes. Every product, BOM, lot and shipment is held under its customer. A customer’s portal or report shows only its own records, even when the same reflow oven ran both builds.

How does it deal with turnkey and consigned builds together?

A product can be built from parts you buy, parts the customer ships in, or a mix. Each BOM line states whose it is, and consigned reels are held apart from purchased stock.

Can it keep an engineering change history?

Each ECO keeps its reason, the lines affected, the date it takes effect and who approved it. Earlier lots stay linked to the revision they were built on, so a field failure points to the right drawing.

Is it suitable for a small EMS shop?

A provider with a handful of customers can begin with the product master, change control and serial records, then add forecasts and RMA returns when the floor is comfortable.

What happens after I share my requirements?

An engineer reads what you send and replies within one business day. We then look at the software, spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups your business runs on today and write down what works, what slows your team down and what is missing. A demo login, a screen-share or a few screenshots are enough. You get a short written summary ordered by priority, with no obligation to hire us afterwards.

How much will the software cost?

We don’t publish a price, because it depends on what the system has to do. That first review settles the scope, and the cost goes into a written proposal before any work starts.
