Manufacturing · Software for cNC milling shops

Link every milled part to its programme revision, work offsets and fixture.

CNC milling shops cut prismatic parts from plate, block and casting on vertical and horizontal mills, usually in two or three operations per part. The software records the programme revision, vise or fixture, work offsets, tool list and inspection result against each operation, and follows parts to deburring, anodising and delivery.

At a glance

A milled bracket may need a first operation on the top face, a second on the underside and a third for the cross holes, each with its own fixture and work offset. Lose one of those details and the part is scrapped or cut wrong. Programmes live on a shared drive under names such as BRKT_final2, and nobody is sure which file ran last time.

Management software for milling shops keeps programme, fixture, offset and inspection sheet against the operation. Tell us which job you chase most often.

How the work runs today

Enquiries arrive as a model file and a drawing. The estimator reads the stock size, the pockets and the tolerances, counts setups, adds programming hours and any outside finish, and sends a quote. Plate or block is bought or cut from the store, and the work order lists the operations in sequence.

A programmer prepares the toolpath, the setter clamps the stock in a vise or on a fixture plate, touches off the work offset and runs the first part slowly. The inspector checks flatness, hole position and pocket depth on a surface table or a CMM. Once approved, the batch runs. Parts are deburred by hand, sent for anodising or black oxide, and packed with the inspection report the buyer asked for.

Where it breaks

What goes wrong for cNC milling shops without a proper system.

The right programme is hard to find

Files sit under names the programmer chose on a busy day. A repeat order starts with a search, and the version that ran last time is a guess. Time is lost.

Operations get skipped or repeated

Operation two is done on the wrong face because the traveller was not updated. The part reaches inspection with a pocket on the wrong side.

Fixtures and vises are not tied to parts

A soft-jaw set or a fixture plate is made for one job and then stacked on a shelf with no label. Next year it is remade from scratch.

Programming hours are never costed

Quotes include machine time and ignore the day the programmer spent on a complex surface. A part that only ran once carries a loss no one sees.

Aluminium plate is cut without a trail

Offcuts return to the rack unmarked, so the grade and the supplier’s certificate are lost. A buyer who needs material traceability gets a shrug.

What the software does

What we would build for cNC milling shops.

Named the way your team already talks about the work. We start with whichever part the audit shows is costing you most.

Part and operation masters

Hold each part with its operations in order: face one, face two, drilling, tapping. Every operation carries its machine, fixture, programme and cycle time.

Programme library with revisions

Attach the approved programme to the operation, with its revision, the postprocessor used and who proved it out. Superseded files are marked and kept. Only one is live.

Fixture and soft-jaw register

Record each vise set-up, fixture plate and soft jaw against the parts it holds, with its shelf location and the offsets it needs. Nothing is remade by mistake. Jaws are easy to find.

Plate and block stock

Receive stock by grade, size and certificate, cut to size and put offcuts back with their lot number, so material stays traceable. Offcuts keep their lot.

Inspection plans and reports

Set the dimensions to check, the instrument and the sample size. Produce the inspection report that ships with the lot. If a measurement fails, the whole lot stays on hold. The report waits.

Outside finishing

Anodising, black oxide and heat treatment vendors each get a list of parts sent, parts back and parts rejected, built from the delivery notes.

Quotes with programming time

Build a quote from stock cost, setups, programming hours, machine time and finish, and see actual hours against it once the job closes.

How it works

How the work runs from Bengaluru for your city.

  1. 1

    The audit, by call

A screen-share and a look at the sheets, accounting reports and WhatsApp groups your team uses. No travel needed.

  2. 2

    A written proposal

Scope, what we build first and the cost, agreed in writing before anything starts.

  3. 3

    Build in short rounds

Working screens shared every few weeks. Your team tests them from your own office.

  4. 4

Go-live, in person when it helps

For data migration and training we can come to your city. Travel is agreed in advance.

  5. 5

    Support online

Fixes, changes and hosting handled remotely by the same team that built it.

Common questions

Questions cNC milling shops ask before they call.

Does it store the machining programmes themselves?

It stores the record of each programme: name, revision, postprocessor and approval. The files can be attached or linked from your server, so the operation always points to the file that was proved out.

Can one part have several operations on different machines?

Yes. Each operation has its own machine, fixture and cycle time. A part moves on only when the earlier operation is booked complete.

We make one-off parts for prototypes. Is this still useful?

Often yes. One-off work is where programming time is lost, and the quote history shows which kinds of part ran over. Shops with only a handful of jobs a month may not need it.

How is the system introduced on a busy floor?

Part masters and open work orders are loaded first. Setters and inspectors start with the tablet screens for their own jobs. The office joins them after a few weeks of use.

What happens after I share my requirements?

An engineer reads what you send and replies within one business day. We then look at the software, spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups your business runs on today and write down what works, what slows your team down and what is missing. A demo login, a screen-share or a few screenshots are enough. You get a short written summary ordered by priority, with no obligation to hire us afterwards.

How much will the software cost?

We don’t publish a price, because it depends on what the system has to do. That first review settles the scope, and the cost goes into a written proposal before any work starts.
