Manufacturing · Software for defence component manufacturers

Hold controlled drawings, customer inspection and serialised delivery on one lot record.

Defence component makers machine, fabricate and finish parts for vehicles, naval platforms and ground equipment under controlled drawings. The software holds the drawing issue, the customer’s inspection stage, the serial range and the delivery schedule for each contract, and limits who can see restricted documents.

At a glance

Defence parts are ordered against a contract, a controlled drawing and a delivery schedule that runs in stages. The customer’s own inspector often visits the shop to witness a check, and the lot may not move on to the next operation until that visit has been signed for.

This software keeps the contract at the centre. Drawing issue, material, process records, serial range, inspector sign-off and each delivery against the schedule are on one file, and access to restricted documents follows named roles.

How the work runs today

A contract arrives for a quantity of components with drawings issued under document control. The commercial team records the delivery schedule, the stage payments and any customer-furnished material. Planning breaks the contract into batches and raises work orders, each with the drawing issue it must follow.

Material is received with its test certificates. Some stock comes free of charge from the customer. It must be kept apart and accounted for. Machining, welding or forging comes first. Heat treatment, plating and coating are done outside before the part returns. At set stages the customer’s inspector attends and signs the record.

Serial numbers are stamped and logged. Packing follows the customer’s marking drawing, a certificate of conformance goes in the box, and shipment waits for the agreed delivery call-off.

Where it breaks

What goes wrong for defence component manufacturers without a proper system.

Drawing issues are controlled by hand

Copies of a controlled drawing circulate on the floor in several states. A machinist works from a superseded print. The error shows at the customer’s inspection.

Customer-furnished material is mixed with own stock

Free-issue forgings and plate are held in the same racks as purchased material. At audit, the shop cannot show a clean balance of what was received, what was used and what went back to the customer.

Inspection stages are missed or unrecorded

The customer’s inspector is due at a hold point, but the lot has already moved. The visit is rebooked. Delivery slips.

Serial ranges overlap across batches

Two batches are stamped from one block of numbers. The register is a spreadsheet kept by one person.

Access to restricted files is informal

A drawing marked restricted sits in a shared folder open to the whole office. Nobody can say who opened it.

What the software does

What we would build for defence component manufacturers.

Named the way your team already talks about the work. We start with whichever part the audit shows is costing you most.

Contract and delivery schedule

Record each contract with its quantity, staged deliveries, payment milestones and penalty dates, and compare the quantity delivered at every stage with the quantity planned, so a slipping batch is seen early.

Controlled drawing register

Hold drawings by issue with a classification, and restrict viewing to named roles. A work order can only be released at the current issue.

Free-issue material account

Receive customer-furnished stock into a separate account, issue it to work orders and show a clean received, used and returned balance.

Inspection hold points

Set hold points on the routing where the customer’s inspector must witness a check, and stop the lot from moving to the next operation until the sign-off is entered by name.

Serial number register

Allocate serial ranges per contract and batch, stamp them to parts and keep an unbroken register that cannot overlap.

Certificate of conformance and packing

Each lot gets a pack with the conformance certificate, test results and marking instructions, plus the packing slip for the crate.

How it works

How the work runs from Bengaluru for your city.

  1. 1

    The audit, by call

A screen-share and a look at the sheets, accounting reports and WhatsApp groups your team uses. No travel needed.

  2. 2

    A written proposal

Scope, what we build first and the cost, agreed in writing before anything starts.

  3. 3

    Build in short rounds

Working screens shared every few weeks. Your team tests them from your own office.

  4. 4

Go-live, in person when it helps

For data migration and training we can come to your city. Travel is agreed in advance.

Common questions

Questions defence component manufacturers ask before they call.

Can access to restricted drawings be limited?

Yes. A drawing marked classified opens only for holders of the matching role, and every open or print lands in an access trail with user and timestamp. Your security officer defines the classification levels and who holds each one.

Does it keep customer-free-issue material apart?

Yes. Material supplied by the customer sits in its own account. Issues, scrap and returns are recorded against it, so the balance is ready for the customer’s check.

Can the customer’s inspector sign at a hold point on the system?

Yes, a named sign-off can be recorded at the hold point. The lot stays blocked until it is entered, and a scan of the inspector’s paper release can be attached.

Does it deal with export control or security clearances?

It records who may see what, but it does not decide rules. Your compliance officer decides what export, end-use and clearance rules apply, and the roles are checked together before launch.

What happens after I share my requirements?

An engineer reads what you send and replies within one business day. We then look at the software, spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups your business runs on today and write down what works, what slows your team down and what is missing. A demo login, a screen-share or a few screenshots are enough. You get a short written summary ordered by priority, with no obligation to hire us afterwards.

How much will the software cost?

We don’t publish a price, because it depends on what the system has to do. That first review settles the scope, and the cost goes into a written proposal before any work starts.
