Manufacturing · Software for foundry component manufacturers

Trace every casting back to its pattern plate, its heat and the drawing revision it was poured against.

A casting is judged on dimensions, chemistry and soundness, and this software holds all three against the pour that made it. Pattern plates, core boxes, spectrometer readings, fettling counts and machining routes sit on one job. When a customer returns a gearbox housing, you find the heat, the mould and the shift.

At a glance

Foundries supply pump bodies, valve castings, gearbox housings and brake drums to makers who send their own drawing and revise it without warning. The pattern on the floor may be two revisions behind. Nobody notices until the first machined part fails a bore gauge.

Foundry software starts from the customer part number. Every pattern, mould, heat and inspection record hangs from it, so a complaint leads to a ladle, a moulding line and a shift. Tell us your toughest casting to start there.

How the work runs today

Enquiries arrive with a drawing, an annual quantity and a grade such as grey iron EN-GJL-250, ductile iron EN-GJS-400-15 or a leaded bronze. Estimating weighs the casting, adds gating and riser weight to get yield, and prices fettling, machining and any outside normalising. Patterns are made in house or by a pattern shop. Tooling stays the customer’s property.

On the floor, charge material is weighed against the melt recipe for the induction furnace, and a spectrometer sample is taken before tapping. Ductile iron adds a magnesium treatment and an inoculant, both noted. Moulds are poured and cooled. Then shakeout, shotblasting and fettling follow. Castings go to the machine shop or to inspection, where dimension, Brinell hardness and hydrostatic test results are written on the lot. Rejections return to the melting plan as remelt, with scrap weight recorded.

Where it breaks

What goes wrong for foundry component manufacturers without a proper system.

Patterns are not matched to the revision

The customer revises a drawing and the shop keeps pouring from a pattern plate built for the old one. Pattern history sits in a register. Production never opens it.

Melt chemistry is separate from the casting

The carbon and silicon readings are in a lab book while the job card carries only a heat number. When a casting fails on hardness, nobody can say which charge went into the induction furnace.

Yield is guessed

Pour weight, casting weight and gating weight are written on three sheets. True yield by part is known only when the owner sits with a calculator and a week of tickets.

Machining and fettling hide the rejection

A casting is scrapped at the machine shop for shrinkage porosity that was already there at shakeout. The foundry cannot show where the defect began.

Customer tooling is lost in the shop

Pattern plates, core boxes and gauges belong to the customer. Where they sit is rarely written down. Neither is the repair history of a worn core print.

What the software does

What we would build for foundry component manufacturers.

Named the way your team already talks about the work. We start with whichever part the audit shows is costing you most.

Customer part and pattern register

Hold each part number with its drawing revision, pattern plate, core box and checking gauge, noting the rack where each sits and the date of its last repair.

Melt and heat log

Record the charge mix, tap temperature, inoculant and spectrometer result for each heat, then link the heat to every mould poured from it.

Mould and pour records

Log mould number, pattern used, pour time and ladle against the casting lot, so a cold shut or misrun can be walked back to its mould.

Fettling and finishing

Count castings through shakeout, shotblasting, grinding and weld repair, with rejection reasons such as sand inclusion or blow hole noted at each station.

Inspection and test certificates

Capture dimension, Brinell hardness, hydrostatic test, magnetic particle and visual results per lot, and print the certificate with the heat analysis attached.

Machining routes and outside processes

Send castings to the machine shop or to a subcontractor for normalising or painting, then receive them back against the same job.

Dispatch and invoicing

Pack, label and ship against the customer order, with the delivery note and invoice drawn from the same lot.

How it works

How the work runs from Bengaluru for your city.

  1. 1

    The audit, by call

A screen-share and a look at the sheets, accounting reports and WhatsApp groups your team uses. No travel needed.

  2. 2

    A written proposal

Scope, what we build first and the cost, agreed in writing before anything starts.

  3. 3

    Build in short rounds

Working screens shared every few weeks. Your team tests them from your own office.

  4. 4

Go-live, in person when it helps

For data migration and training we can come to your city. Travel is agreed in advance.

  5. 5

    Support online

Fixes, changes and hosting handled remotely by the same team that built it.

Common questions

Questions foundry component manufacturers ask before they call.

Does it handle both ferrous and non-ferrous castings?

Yes. Grey iron, ductile iron, carbon steel and bronze each get their own melt recipe and test set. The grades and checks you work with are entered at set-up.

Can we track customer-owned patterns?

Yes. Each pattern plate, core box and gauge is a record with an owner, a rack and a repair history. Trips to an outside pattern shop are logged.

Can it print a material test certificate?

It can produce a certificate layout from the heat analysis and lot results. Your quality manager approves the wording before any certificate goes to a customer.

What can we take with us if we stop?

Part, heat and lot records export to spreadsheet files on request. The file list is agreed before work starts.

What happens after I share my requirements?

An engineer reads what you send and replies within one business day. We then look at the software, spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups your business runs on today and write down what works, what slows your team down and what is missing. A demo login, a screen-share or a few screenshots are enough. You get a short written summary ordered by priority, with no obligation to hire us afterwards.

How much will the software cost?

We don’t publish a price, because it depends on what the system has to do. That first review settles the scope, and the cost goes into a written proposal before any work starts.
